Actually another question. Is Thor 2 worth going back to check out? I got the gist of what happened in the movie, but still thinking about watching it

It's the worst Marvel movie in the entire Avengers "franchise." I recommend high amounts of alcohol if you do choose to watch it.

I liked it more than IronMan 2 or 3, but I would consider any of the Marvel movies "bad". They are all enjoyable in their own right, some just aren't amazing and there's nothing wrong with that.

In terms of relevance to the overall storyline, it does give you an in-depth look at another infinity stone.

It also has some stuff with Loki that could be significant moving forward.

I know the first 2 Thor movies have been underwhelming in the scope of the entire MCU, but Ragnarok looks like it could be great.

Ugh, I hated Thor 2. It's literally the only Marvel movie that I really could not stand. I own it, and I appreciate it's relevance to Agents of Shield and the rest of the universe, but it's not one I ever watch "just to watch." I think the other thing is, by the point of it's release, we'd seen a ton of Loki. I wanted a new villain to no avail. What I've loved so much about Agents, Winter Soldier, Civil War, even Ultron, is we got to see a whole group of new villains that all had their own motivations... I think Infinity is gonna make that even better.

Thor 2 is all about the big picture like I posted earlier. It adds the infinity stones without Thor realizing it, and it bridges the gap for future movies where Loki is in control. Nothing special about it IMO. I just wonder when Thor will realize that 2 (probably 3) of the infinity stones are right under his nose. In Avengers 2 he finally learns about them, but hes had two back at Asgard this whole time.

IMO Iron Man 3 is the worst of the series. It literally does nothing for the universe. It was simply a money grab. The 1st half was solid, but the second they made the Mandarin a joke, it lost me. All of the movies are 6.5 or better IMO, but Iron Man 3 is lucky if its a 5.

If I had to rank the series, IMO it would be:
Civil War
Avengers
Winter Solider
Guardians of the Galaxy
Captain America
Iron Man 1
Thor 1
Avengers 2
Iron Man 2
Thor 2
Hulk

Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 was god awful. If Thor 2 is better I'll check it out

Thor 2 is a decent enough film it has some decent action a few laughs and Natalie Portman

If you view Iron Man 3 as quirky, Shane Black buddy cop movie with lots of special effects, it's watchable.

As an MCU movie, it sucks.

It was probably better in theaters. I really do like the set pieces is Asgard on the big screen.

Big picture wise, it doesn't do much, other than introduce a new Infinity Stone. However, Guardians actually introduces the Stones to those who had no idea what they were. So really, it doesn't do much at all.

But Asgard is still pretty.

Asgard is a visual masterpiece. That & the Loki character arch are the only reasons I rated it as high as I did.

Had they left him dead after he finally helped his brother, it would have been a great story. However bringing him back is very Loki like.

Cant believe Hiddleston auditioned for Thor. I could see why Helmsworth was chosen over him though. He just has that Thor look. That being said, Tom Hiddleston is probably the best actor in the Thor series. His work in Thor 1 has given him ample opportunities since.

@David. will be so happy to know that superhero movies are now getting their own thread and not being part of the other movie thread.
It took actual years to get to this point

So who was the actual bad guy in the third movie? It wasn't the former anti vampire preacher from True Blood.

Baron Zemo. Crossbones was in the beginning (I wish they had done more, but I get it).

I have to believe that Crossbones was working with/for Zemo to cause the explosion in the beginning. I still feel like there is a higher power that (Red Skull?) is behind all of this.

Interesting. I hated what IM3 did to Mandarin - who is a fucking awesome villain - but as a movie I didn't mind it as much as Thor 2. My rankings:

1) Winter Soldier
2) Avengers
3) Civil War
4) Iron Man 1
5) Guardians
6) Avengers 2
7) Iron Man 2
8) Captain America

9) Iron Man 3

10) Thor 2

I think there is a significant difference from the top-8 and IM3 and T2. I am looking forward to the next Thor, though. I feel like Marvel is finally figuring out how to utilize him best as a God and a vulnerable character.
