Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There are a lot better options on the FA market for backup rim protector than PG.

EmoBert and O'Neal are both pretty good options to spell Mozgov if we need to.

These are the type of games you need from Delly. 12 minutes, good effort on the defensive floor, and made an open three pointer. If that's his role with this depth I don't see a reason to add another PG.

All of our major minute role players have been playing very well since LeBron has returned. Delly, Thompson and Marion. And you can already tell once Shumpert gets back into game form that he's going to play really well too. I think a backup center is more important than a point guard at this moment. If only to put guys like Perkins on their ass without getting Mozgov into foul trouble. Gotta give it up to Griffin, he has made really good moves all season long.

I think Dellavedova competes and moves the ball well enough in shoirt stints that we can afford to get another rotation big-man rather than going so hard after a back-up point.

Then again, I think David Grffin saved our season and I place full trust in him right now.

From what I'm hearing, the issue isn't this rotation right now. With everyone healthy, this team can go far.

The issue is that the team didn't look like a contender when Tristan Thompson was the starting center due to injuries, and the team also didn't look like a contender when Delly was playing big minutes because Kyrie was out with injuries.

So with this 15th roster spot, they need to guess who will be more likely to miss a chunk of the season: Kyrie or Mozgov. It's like being forced to predict the future. And that is why the Cavaliers are in discussions with the Haywood contract, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Maybe they should get rid of the deadweight that is James Jones/Mike Miller and get both a backup PG and C.

Personally, with Shumpert and Smith on the roster, I think a fourth big is more of a need than another guard. LeBron already fills the duties of the point guard much of the time when he's on the court, and our guard depth is actually pretty solid right now and will only improve as Shumpert's minutes restrictions are lifted.

They are not dead weight. They are veterans that everyone respects, looks up to, and have won as leaders. If you don't see their value your not watching close enough. Who is the first people others sit down by. Who do they celebrate with the most. Where do they look on the bench during dead time for advice. Mostly those vets.

Leadership and friendships are just as important as skills on a championship teams. Thats why teams with low turn over seem to always be contending. Teams need to enjoy and feel unified.

And just watch. I guarantee Mike Miller has a big game in the playoffs when one of the younger guys is struggling.

I'm definitely more interested in getting another big. It's not just about injuries but also foul trouble, which Mozgov is much more likely to suffer from in any given game. Moz picks up a couple early fouls and the game changes completely. It becomes a layup line when he's not on the floor.

I recognize it. I wouldn't want Miller gone. He's the guy that is rallying everyone and the first to greet players when they come off the floor. I'm saying that if you got a veteran PG or veteran big man similar to the status of Jones/Miller, then you could get rid of Jones and have a player that contributes on and off the floor, instead of using the last roster spot to pick one of a PG or C and risk an injury to the position you didn't pick. Griffin could also accomplish this by trading Haywood and signing the missing position, which would probably be the best for LeBron and the rest of the team.

Delly like TT gets slated a lot more than he deserves. He isn't someone who should be playing lot of minutes but like with TT how can anyone not love their heart and hustle? Yes, they are poor on the offensive end of the floor but you can't have two or three Kyrie Irvings in the same team. Its fucks the balance up and more importantly, its impossible. Delly is a good 5-10 min player for the team and ideal for the 9-13 rotation.
