Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I rarely watch the Warriors, regrettably.

Does anyone ever seem to be able to get in Curry's head?

This year nobody really has. The only thing I could think of that bothers him, is if refs allowed PatBev to tug and pull his jersey all game

Good news is those bullshit push offs aint gonna work against Delly. Bad news is Curry only needs a tiny bit of space that I'm not sure Delly can keep him from creating.

Best news is I think Shump is one of the best possible options in the league for both.

Maybe I confused the "post injury Delly" play from January and February with a return to the mean prediction of pre-draft scouting reports and a predictor of what we'd see going forward instead of a period of rehab and adjustment, which is what it looks like it hindsight?

I really think this is true. Delly looked faster at the beginning of the year and everyone was saying, "tighter handle and better quickness, and Delly can keep up". Guards weren't going by him and he was really doing initially. We didn't realize how much his knee had set him back.
Another thing I have to give Delly credit for is adjusting his game to his guys on the floor. I said Delly was a good influence on Lebron, and got laughed at, but it is true. He is a good pg because he knows how the other guys on his team can be successful and he has made TT Lebron jj and see look good by being then good looks.

Word. Barkley kept saying that the other night. Delly doesn't hustle more, because he has less talent - he hustles more, because he's that kind of player!

When will people realise hustle is as much a 'talent' as shooting. Otherwise everyone would hustle

Not sure about that. You can DECIDE to hustle. I can't DECIDE to be lights-out from three. I can DECIDE to work on my shot, but better athletes are going to improve at a faster rate.

It's like being born with a 3-inch dong: no amount of hustle is going to make you a pornstar - it takes a certain amount of talent to just get through the door...

I remember watching the game, but can't remember what they were doing strategically. What was different?

Shump and JR were draped all over him I believe.

Edit: Here is the highlights for those interested:

Edit 2: Kyrie got broke down a lot on defense. We have to find a way to hide him and not have him be involved in the pick and roll much.

No it's a choice. i am sur most people who played here got by by being willing to sacrifice their bodies.

Heart isn't a talent. Some guys you don't want diving for balls though. Like when Price got injured going into a table.

But he reminds me of that random quote of Delonte Something like "you can't measure heart, when I'm out there I'm 7'6", I'm yao ming".

Having a high motor is not a skill. It's how you make it when you aren't as naturally gifted. Just like intelligence. People work and get by by being smart and doing the minimum some people just work harder than anybody.

@Randolphkeys Can you make it outside today? you've been right about Delly since day 1. That heads got to be pretty big about now, might not fit through the door anymore :alc:

In college I saw that Delly played with that competitive edge and as smart as anyone I'd seen at the college level. I saw he had a bum ankle and didn't look as quick as he could be, I saw that he was carrying some bad weight. I thought his three point shot was good, but his mechanics could use some refinement. I had similar thoughts on Jeremy Lin at Harvard, and thought they would prove to be solid backup point guards the draft process overlooked. But, credit to Delly, Lin stopped playing aggressive defense as soon as he signed a big contract. Delly keeps working on all those things I thought would hold him back, especially his conditioning and nutrition. The guy has been taking a serious physical beating the past three series and he outlasted opponents, oftentimes big men, who were trying to break him. The toughest thing to measure for scouts is a player's willingness to keep giving 110% after they get "comfortable." I'm betting Delly isn't one of those guys.

I'm starting to look ahead to the Golden State series, and its going to be fun watching the Cavaliers and Warriors play their positionless brand of basketball against worthy opponents. Both teams have players who are versatile and skilled at every position. The Warriors have more skilled depth, but I don't know if they have tougher or more physical role players. Aside from Kyrie's health - which the Finals will hinge upon - the physicality of the finals will be the tipping point.

You got put size on Steph, that's what works. You're not going to stop him, he's going to score. But if you put size on him, you can force him into difficult shots.

The Cavs are going to have to hedge hard on him, trap him, double him a lot too.

I think you dare everyone else to beat you, including Klay Thompson.
