Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well I wanted to get Charlie Villanueva over re-signing Anderson Varejao.

There's nothing wrong in doubting a players ceiling until they break through it. I mean how many great athletes in these Finals alone were afterthoughts? Draymond Green? Tristan Thompson?

This may be the funniest and best explained article on why Delly is Delly. Australians are just asking the world "What the fuck are you staring at?"

Sorry Thunder, I have a totally different take on that article. It incensed me so much I made an account and posted this.

Where ever you came from seven years ago, do us all a favour and return post haste. I'm sure enough readers will chip in for the fare. At a minimum give away writing about being Australian. I doubt I've experienced more national cringe than I felt reading this excuse for journalism. You casual dismissal of Dellavedova and Lleyton Hewitt as little or no talent individuals is a disgrace. I don't think I've ever seen Delly (not Della) mouth off at an opponent without significant provocation. Every coach/team member ever interviewed cannot speak more highly of his respect for the game and for his opponents. I quote "with a few well-aimed elbows in last week’s Eastern Conference finals, Cleveland’s Matthew Dellavedova has turned himself from an obscure non-starting point guard into one of the most polarising basketball players in America", WOW, did you actually watch any of the games?, you're insulting the individual and embarrassing yourself. But congratulations, you have totally supported the agenda of sections of the US media in portraying Dellavedova as the stereotypical low talent Aussie thug sportsman and effectively belittled his achievements in the process. Seven years and you don't get it at all.

To me the whole Delly-dirty talk was totally blown out of proportion. All of the talking heads needed something interesting to say, because it was clear the series was over just as soon as it started and not worth talking much about. Couple that with Reggie Miller on the broadcast being his usual self and you have this story out of thin air.

Did @Thunder12 even write that article?

I'm pretty sure the elbows were in reference to people elbowing Delly.

Additionally, by NBA standards Delly's talent and athleticism is middling at best.

Not seeing the issue with Thunder's post or the article.

No thunder just posted it, no issue there at all, my issue is with the author. The elbow ref was just one issue I had. I'm tired of Aussies being portrayed as loud mouth bullies and just as tired of the section of our community that seems to take pride in it. Specifically on delly I think he or anyone who knows him would feel insulted by that article but everyone is entitled to their own opinion as am I.

You may not have opinions that are in opposition to mine.

Have you never met an American before or something???

I will not speak for Delly or anyone else, but as a Aussie I have no problem with the article. Anyone who watches us play sport realises we punch well above our weight and much of that comes from our competitiveness. I thought Leighton Hewitt was a perfect example of performances exceeding their natural ability. Delly arguably also fits this bill.
I get annoyed at people calling Delly "untalented" because that is bullshit and calling him "scrappy" can be patronising.
I think never backing down is a quality Australians should be proud of. Charles Barkley was amazed that the Australian team honestly thought they could beat the Dream Team. He was almost in awe of this. Anyway, to each their own.
