Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He never got back to normal after going to the hospital. The amount o energy needed to keep gs under 100 was too much. The whole team was dead.

God he is one of 3 undrafted guys to ever score 20 in the finals and he held 3 all-star pgs to under their averages for 3 straight series. Unbelievable job from Delly. The last 3 games no one but Lebron could score. Overachieved and finally got punched back.

To all the guys that write Delly off, were you saying the same thing after game 3? Do you think Blatt or Griffin, or any of Delly's former coaches have the same opinion of the man?

My point is that he contributed bundles on the highest stage, in a role he wasn't meant to perform, and you want to right him off because he didn't look like Kyrie. The guy played his heart out and was the deciding factor in the wins the Cavs had in the finals (and game 4 against Chicago) - what more do you want?!?!

He is a second year player that has improved each and every season of his career. Everyone that has written him off in the past, including all the so called experts commenting after game 1 of the finals, come away looking stupid. Give him 2 years and he will overcome whatever obstacles in his game he is currently facing.

Delly is not a starter. He should never be called upon to defend people like Steven Curry. He's a short term substitute guard. A great practice player. Depth.
All that said, Delly can play for my team anytime. I hope he's back.

Heart of a lion

Looking forward to watching delly improve his three point shot and passing

And delly at 10-15 minutes beautiful thing

Big thankyou to Mathew Dellavedova. It was a great job you did. You entertained and made me laugh, it was fun to watch both on and off the court. You excited the populace while inspiring your team mates, other basketballers and even sportsmen in other sports. You led and carried yourself with dignity at all times. Oh, and won finals games.

thanks, could not have asked for more.

I would take every single back up PG we faced in the playoffs over Delly and you guys are honestly acting like he is more than a third pg for an elite team. Delly had one trick this whole playoffs the ability to throw the lob to Tristan once teams took it away he still attempted to do it every single time he drove. For people saying he can run the offense thats part of the reason Lebron was worn down because Delly couldn't handle the pressure of bringing the ball up. He had 2 nice games in the playoffs due to the fact he was wide open and played hard. Lets not forget he shot 28 percent from the field in the Finals and averaged 2 assist scoring 5 and 1 points and 0 points in 3 out of the 6 Finals games.

Delly is going to be the hardest call for management this off-season.

Realistically he shouldn't play more than 10-15 minutes a night on a $2 millionish contract.

He did play well enough though in the post season that some team is going to make him an offer I am not sure the Cavs are going to be willing to match given the limited role he would have on this team if everyone were healthy.

Delly made himself a ton of money this post-season and also got a taste of what it was like to be more than a bit player.

If some team comes to him with a deal around $4 million (I absolutely think someone will) and a role of 20-25 minutes a game I am not sure he doesn't go.

We are going to have to overpay to keep everyone (it's the nature of the beast) but Delly is the one that is going to be the toughest call

I would like him back, but the finances are going to make it tough.

Delly is a restricted free agent who is going to look to get paid. He is not a starter nor even a first back up on a good team. He looked ok in a few games, got a reputation for a dirty player deserved or not and then totally pooped out. Most of you were saying before the playoffs began that he shouldnt see the floor during the playoffs and was only pressed into service because of the Kyrie injury and because Griffin was unable to find an acceptable backup point guard at the deadline. I fail to see what value he has going forward for a team next year whose motto should be from the beginning of the year championship or bust.

Who cares what his stats show from playoffs. How about his stats and actual play when he was with Lebron? He did things Delly can't do u know shoot a wide open 3., penetrate without turning the ball over and he can play defense. I see u same guys keep trying to belittle real back up PG that can replace Delly.. Delly is not good and can't handle back up PG when he can't even dribble a ball up the court. Gonna be a bunch of butt hurt ppl in here when the Cavs signs that back up PG for Kyrie this summer.

Also why are ppl putting Delly and SG in the same sentence?

Cole has a career 3 point of 32%. His playoff 3 point shooting is 38% but this is inflated by his huge 2013 numbers of 53%...if not he would have around 32% in playoffs as well...Delly shot 40% during the season and 31% during the playoffs...if the only thing going for Cole is his 3 point shooting...he is NOT better than Delly. The question of whether we need another PG is worth debating, but to suggest that Cole is the answer, doesn't make sense.

The point is that backup PG's that can do what Kyrie does and play big minutes in the event that Kyrie cannot pay for extended minutes DO NOT exist. And if they did, they want big money and do not want to sit at the end of the bench waiting for game time...they want to play.

We are better off with a vet PG that will come basically for free, happy to play a few minutes and help Delly to mature, and in the vent that Kyrie cannot play, can share minutes with Delly...maybe Nate Robinson or Jordan Farmar who played at macabi

I wonder if they will just put a qualifying offer and look at what they need to match.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone offers around 9-12m over 3yr. Count ourselves lucky he had some bad shooting games at the end. Perhaps we get in early with a discount because he probably wants to stay???

I see a 3 year/9-10 max deal...that would be 2 mill/3mill/4-5 mill based on the new TV deal. All guaranteed.

He's worth $2 mill next year just on the jersey sales through the playoffs...he basically cost nothing this season based on that and the publicity he generated

The only backup point guard I've seen listed who is clearly on par with Delly is Mo Williams, because offensively he scores the ball efficiently and Delly can't. His defense and durability hasn't improved since he was in Cleveland, in fact they have worsened. I'd happily take Mo with Delly resigned but we might be seeing point guard 2A and 2B rather than a clear upgrade. You play Mo when you need an offensive burst, you play Delly to protect a lead.

The rest of the names include guys who were on multiple teams this past year and it wasn't because everyone wanted them: it was because they lost their jobs repeatedly for multiple seasons. Out of the league Will Bynum? Out of the league Jordan Farmar? Repeatedly demoted Norris Cole? Unemployed Nate Robinson? Mr. Trade block of 2015 Jameer Nelson? None of these guys are better than the players Delly has already beaten out for the backup point job.

Get a clear upgrade and I'm fine. But, these dumpster diving expeditions embarrass us all.

Agree with most of what you say. I think Robinson could give us something, but having said that it would be a $1 mill gamble. The one that I didn't mention is Patty Mills. Loves to shoot, can be explosive on offence, Pop loves him, has been brought up in a good system at the Spurs, good work ethic...and he is an Aussie. I reckon he would work well with Delly sharing minutes between them...and Delly might be able to help him out of the funk he seems to be in at the moment...

I said it elsewhere on the website after the Game 6 loss, if San Antonio wants to dump Splitter's contract as badly as I've read, you do a deal for Splitter and Mills. AV and Splitter as the second group bigs utilizes the decades plus of practice time they have learning to work together in the paint, cuts down on total number of minutes for all the bigs, keeping Moz and Love healthier. Mills and Delly together are dynomite, playing under the same coaching philosophy from youth ball through the pros. And again, its all about cutting big minutes thrust upon Kyrie and Shumpert at the same time. Create a chemistry where everyone sacrifices personal numbers because they genuinely want a team to succeed. They would truly make the whole team better.
