Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Part of it I think is when Dellavedova would have a bad game Brown had a short leash to bench him, and for games. The Jack preferential treatment was very strange. Even papa bear Silas allowed Varejao to break into the rotation. Now that the season is basically concluded with the cavs needing help to enter the play offs Brown sends Delly in to make the run.

If Kyrie, and Miles did not get injured he would have gone unnoticed.

Has anyone noticed that Delly's 3 point stroke looks just like all of the "Double Dribble" shots from deep (both arms kinda flailing towards the rim)?

If that's the case, someone needs to tell him about the automatic 3 point shot where you're falling out of bounds in the corner. I was unstoppable once I figured that out.

didn't see the game but the stat line for delly was not good.

Teague gassed him, he struggled to guard him effectively. But at least he tried to stay in front of him which is more than I can say for an unnamed team mate with quicker foot speed.
Offensively he threw a few nice passes but spent no time at the point and Kyrie, Dion and Jack did not get him any open looks at the 3. The ball movement of the team was terrible, the defense was worse. Dion Kyrie and JJ just dribbled and took terrible contested shots.
Delly should have played more minutes with Dion. The combos of Delly/Jack and Delly/Irving are less effective.

Teague is one of the best penetrators in the league. Delly has been gashed by a lot of quick points in the league. Not his match up.

The issue is always bigger than one player - the help defense is often slow and hands are often down too. Basic and simple fundamentals that are sadly missing from the Cavs. But relying on winning 1:1 matchups through any game is a simple game of attrition come the playoffs - it's not winning basketball for a small market team.

When you have such quick pg's it's better to put him on the 2 man. He can guard a bigger player pretty well because he really gets into their shooting space. Joe Johnson is the only bigger player i have seen really take advantage of his height over Delly and he is almost pf sized.

Delly is going to end up being a top 10 player out of the '13 draft class.

That's pretty impressive considering he went undrafted.

Delly is a stud. I hope we keep him long term.

His lingering high ankle sprain senior year was a Godsend for the Cavaliers. He looked like a quickness liability for two key months on a team that didn't get much national exposure. As a junior, I knew the guy was NBA quality. When his ankle had good days, he was a wrecking ball. All the athletes at Middle Tennessee State learned that the hard way...

Mad props. You were not wrong about this guy, and neither were the cavs.

What I don't understand is why don't waiters take the point guard. All too often he's on the shooting guard.

I won't be surprised to see him starting next season if the cavs move Irving. Seems like a no brainer if the cavs make the move to get more scoring out of the front court I'm expecting. Should be a completely different set up going into next season.

delly would get exposed real quick if he was the #1 PG. There are still reasons he went undrafted

love me some delly though, im far from a hater by any means

I think it depends what they do up front and if Irving wants out. If the cavs can get some scorers up front it will be much easier to hide delly, and open him up for easy looks.
