Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The players need to wake up. If you play like Blatt wants you to, you will get minutes.

This is also what Windy said. He said he understands why Blatt is playing Delly a lot because Delly (unlike others) will play all out whenever he is on the court.

Fair enough.... but Scott Skiles was a starting point guard for years in the league. FAR more talented than Delly.

Scott Skiles looked pretty bad his 1st 2 years in the NBA, and unlike Delly, he was a 1st round pick.

Also, am I the only one who noticed that, even though he is slumping on offense, that he is shooting almost 40% from 3 right now? His slump from 2 point range has more to do with him playing out of position more than anything I think.

The toughest part about our roster I think is that we expected to be a title contender. So guys like James Jones and Miller made sense.

But with the team struggling so much, those guys often look more like liabilities than assets.

Guys like Delly, Miller and Jones can be important contributors (in the locker room and on the floor) on a title team. Delly's fire, defense, and hustle can definitely help us into the future in my opinion.

The key for us is to get enough other talent so that these guys (Delly, Miller, Jones) can play the roles they are supposed to play rather than roles they aren't really suited to play. The latter is what has been happening, so it makes these guys look worse than they otherwise would seem on a team with a better roster.

On Delly's side he's a 37-38% 3pt shooter at college and the NBA combined.

He certainly is in a slump on the offensive side and that's why fans are beginning to dislike him. He's not producing with the minutes he's getting.

We need to get whole/healthy so we can continue to enjoy the few minutes he plays.

I really don't think his 3 point numbers are a problem. He is streaky, but .37 is more than acceptable for a back-up PG on the minimum.
I do think he needs to improve his 2 point numbers though, and work out an effective way to penetrate.
There are some ridiculous comments coming through against Delly though. If you want to start laying blame for the Cavs crap form, I suggest looking at players on multi million dollar contracts with big wraps instead. There have been plenty of terrible performances of late, so you you won't have to look far to find one.

Scott Skiles only put up decent numbers when he was the clear cut best player on terrible Orlando expansion teams. On the other hand, he controlled the pace of the game and created for others. I see a lot of similarities.

Actually based on the stats Delly is ahead of where Skiles was at at this point of his career...better 3 pts shooting; better assists and better rebounds. delay will have a long career in the NBA playing 10-15 minutes per game; playing hard defines and being the floor general for the second team. I am also guessing that like Skiles Delly will have a pretty good coaching career when is finished.

That was a brutal, brutal game last night from Delly. I cringed non-stop everytime he touched the ball from late in the first quarter to early 2nd quarter when he had a horrid stretch. He should not be playing, not even in "short minutes".

He is just getting worse and worse, really thought we had the perfect backup PG.

I would guess Delly gets 5-10 games off when Shumpert gets healthy. Delly wasn't playing with any confidence against Golden State. He's officially a mess, the floor game he usually brings isn't there right now. He is pressing, which normally isn't his game.

I still think Delly will figure it out once the rotation gets healthy and gells.

I accept the idea that the injury was a negative and might have set him back quite a bit.

Playing with new bench players every game doesn't exactly help either from a chemistry standpoint.

You can tell he is pressing. He needs to just give it his all on defense right now. Because his offense is just bad.

His inability to make passes hurts more than anything.

He's like a walking turnover now, can't even make the simple pass he used to make.

Delly is one of the worst offensive pgs I've ever seen. The dilemma is his talent doesn't warrant playing with starters but he also can't run the point off the bench. For everyone saying he should play 10-15 mins a game, in what situations? I fail to see any.
