Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Might as well make a GIF of the entire 4th quarter. Dellavedova frustrated Jennings the whole quarter, denying him at times and also forcing him into some very difficult shots that missed badly. I think the only time Jennings really got what he wanted was on a fast break assist. On the last shot, Jennings got free for a moment but he was driving to his right (off-hand) and had to slow down and step back to steady his shot, which allowed Dellavedova to get back in the mix. It was a great defensive effort but only one moment of a really impressive and aggressive defensive quarter for him.

Mike Brown had a lot of praise for him again after the ballgame. Basically said he would take Dellavedova on any team he could ever coach.

He made a nice off- ball play trying to wrestle the ball away from Monroe (I think) in that last minute or so as well. Didn't get it, but it forced a muffed shot. He also raced back on the break they muffed, and was in the mix to help us get the ball back.

Honestly, if I'm anyone but Andy, I'd be embarrassed at being on the floor with him given the disparity in effort.

honestly, have you ever known anyone to get the absolute most out of themselves as this guy does. I mean it is 100% effort and hard work, nothing less.

I think of Tim Kempton and leadership pickles.

Over the last 7 games, we've been outscored by 30 points per 48 minutes with Delly on the bench. Where would we be without this guy? Thank you Delly. Thank you.

That mouthpiece exemplifies his game. Guy plays basketball like it's hockey.

I don't know how free agency works for undrafted players, but I wanna lock this kid up to some kind of team-friendly five year contract...or as long a deal as we can give him. Given that he's relatively unproven and just a role player, he can't demand much money. He's one of those players you wouldn't think twice about giving a long-term deal to...his style of play and work ethic means he'll always have value.

Five years could potentially make him a bad contract, depending on the money. While he is on the cheap contract, take advantage of it. Don't be afraid to absorb a bad contract elsewhere that runs out the same time Dellavedova becomes a free agent.

It's one thing to chase available talent, but it's another thing to build a culture. The cavs are a small market team and buying talent comes at a price, I would suggest that the model to follow is not the traditional NBA model but instead that of the Spurs, where top to bottom it is a class act, a great culture and the results show that - not just on the court, but in the ability to foster and grow off court talent.

is there anyway we can put Delly and KI in a mixer and come out with one player?

Delly strikes me as one of those guys that just becomes crucial to the team's success in the playoffs. Energy, doing all the little things, toughness, etc

Don't want to get too attached to Delly. A lot of people, including me, were all for signing back Gee on a 'team friendly' contract after his nice start to his career. Not saying Delly is the same situation, just be wary.
