Mayweather vs Pacquiao | May 2, 2015

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's the thing. It wasn't anything I hadn't already seen before. Seeing him fight 40 something times with mostly the same approach is to be appreciated but at the end of the day you want to see both fighters challenge each other. You want to see something that the other fighter possesses that creates a rift in their style of fight. If anything, the opposite happened.

When people look back on this fight, they'll consider Pacman one of his easier opponents. Nothing shocked me, nothing engaged me, it was just a good ol' fashioned blowout and that's probably the least exciting kind of match in boxing.

I'd like to see Floyd fight someone else, TBH. No rematch needed for me.

I can understand this though... Floyd simply wasn't challenged at all.. That was a bit, disappointing.

Who ended up winning?

All

I watched most of Ali's fights, and he was just a much more active fighter than is Mayweather. Also a harder puncher even though that generally wasn't his style.

He also had a killer instinct in terms of not laying off just because he was ahead on points. He got more and more aggressive as he wore his opponent down. Mayweather generally just plays the points game.

Defense and punch accuracy are the biggest similarities.

Mayweather's fights just aren't that entertaining because he rarely takes chances. He seems almost emotionless.

All those chances Ali took ended up with him "losing his marbles" according to Mayweather. So Floyd doesn't take the same chances because he wants to enjoy the rest of his life.

I only wish Ali had fought more like Floyd.

The question is how do you beat Mayweather and who could do it.outside of a brutal knockout punch that It would take a heavyweight to deliver.

I would imagine one would have to frustrate Mayweather into making mistakes and great footwork to land those punches at a rate that would cause concern

Kel Brook and Thurman i would guess would be mayweather next two fights. I dont see a 2nd fight between Manny and Floyd. perhaps he can drop down and fight gonzalez

Apparently The paccio camp is complaining that Manny coudlnt take a lidocaine shot before the fight because noone bothered to tell the Nevada boxing commision until that morning. If they had informed them on friday an MRI could of been done and the shot allowed. apparently the injury was reaggravated in 3rd round

Cool video, but I stopped watching when the "conditions" popped up. It's like, mofos just wanted the guy to lose...

It's kinda pathetic at this point.

Did folks want Manny to get a 50/50 split? Why?
Did folks want Manny to be able to wear whatever gloves he wants? Why?
I mean, c'mon... the fucking excuses are tired.

And the whole, waiting til he was out of his prime is bullshit. Manny could not pass a drug test 5 years ago, that's why the fight didn't happen.

Mayweather is the best boxer alive. Guys just gotta learn to deal with it.

It's hard to argue against that when the guy is 48-0.

But that shit is funny. You must be in the doghouse with the wife.......lol.

Floyd Mayweather draws the line at beating pregnant women he prevuiosly fought on behalf of battered women everywhere and said as much.unlike manny he put the man down

Boxing isnt an antitrust like football basketball and baseball it also isnt fake like wrestling.

A prominent Boxer can fight anywhere and generate nice purse for the bout. they did it 50 years ago and its even easier for them to do it now.
Title sanctions typically hurt the boxing organizations than the fighter once they establish a name for themselves

People who never watch boxing that only watch these "spectacle" fights and then critique the sport are so hilarious to me. Boxing is a science. Different weight divisions have different fights. Fighters have different styles. The "fight is boring without a KO" crowd are like casual basketball fans that don't like Tim Duncan... "He's no Blake Griffin!"

Floyd is not only a brilliant fighter, but he was active the ENTIRE fight. The way that he can slip a punch and counter one of the quickest guys in the sport is a treat to watch. Had about 10 friends over and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Floyd landed almost 50% of his power punches!

Anyone watch Leo Santa Cruz before the Mayweather fight? Two featherweight guys going at each other. Never a knock out in sight, but you'll never see as many exchanges. Exciting in a different way. Heavyweights are lacking today, but people forget that with big heavy punchers come even more clinches. Give and take.

Great fight.

Please stop with the condescending "you just don't understand boxing" schtick. Plenty of folks who understand boxing very well, including fighters thselves, thought it was a crappy fight too.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion, but to act as though your opinion is the only valid one is ridiculous.

You haven't said anything about the fight at all...

I mean, I agree that Mayweather went into the fight with a superior strategy and just outclassed Pacquaio, but that doesn't mean the fight wasn't unexciting. It's one thing to want Mayweather to lose (who doesn't?) and another to think he lost that fight. I just think his fighting style is fucking boring. I can't be too pissed, though. I didn't pay for the fight. Streamed that shit online for free, so I'm only out an hour of my life rather than a hundred bucks.

It went as expected. You can hate Mayweather all you want and root for him to lose, but the truth of the matter is he's just about the greatest textbook boxer there ever was. There is a reason everyone looks completely impotent when they get in the ring with him. For me its beautiful to watch.

However I can certainly understand how even some big time boxing fans would think Mayweather fights are boring. Not everyone is gonna appreciate every fighting style, just the way it goes.

I'll bet all those people who don't actually watch boxing were pretty turned off.

It's hard to argue against that when the guy is 48-0.

But that shit is funny.

My only problem with the video is that it perpetuates a false narrative. That somehow, Manny came out swinging and Floyd just dipped on him and hugged him. That's b.s. Floyd out punched Manny in literally every single measurable category.

Folks saying Manny somehow came out swinging either didn't watch the fight, or didn't care what happened in reality. Folks saying Pacquiao somehow carried away a moral victory are delusional. As JSS said, Pacman wasn't even in the top-half of challengers for Mayweather.

You must be in the doghouse with the wife.......lol.

You know, I thought I would be..

She watched the fight right alongside me as she normally does. We scored the fight very similarly. She had Mayweather ahead by more than I did, as did a lot of folks. I thought +4 Mayweather was very fair to Pacquiao.

She's upset that Pacman lost, but with that she doesn't think he deserved to win either. Only her friends who didn't watch the fight are tweeting that nonsense, based on the false premise that Mayweather somehow didn't fight back, he just "ran."
