Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For the record...MKG and freshman Artest were eerily similar in both size and statistics. Artest was 6'7, 235 and MKG is 6'7 232. Statistically, they were nearly identical with the exception that MKG is by far the more efficient scorer and a better FT shooter while Artest was the better 3pt shooter.

Let's say my Artest comparison was on- just humor me. Would you take a non-crazy Ron Artest #2 in this draft?

Hard to say, crazy was/is such a big part of who Artest is :chuckles:

Per 36 minutes, Artest peaked at about 19 points 6 rebounds 3+ assists and 2+ steals with decent efficiency. Take away the crazy and the injuries and he probably has an even better peak sustained over a longer period. So yes, I'd take that out of the #2 pick.

The concern I have with Beal is his size, listed at 6'5 but he looks more 6'3ish to me.
Actually, it's the opposite. He's listed at 6'3" but is closer to 6'5"

:18, :23, :30, :38, :43 on that mix...the list goes on and on. Replace MKG in your mind with Ron Artest during those clips. Pretty easy, right?

I like the MKG/Artest comparison. The problem with Artest of course is that he is a crazy mother fucker. Take away the stupidity and replace it with a gym rat and you have an elite prospect.

Dude I hope the lottery helps us. Also idk why but I hope Charolette gets screwed hard in teh lotto. I just feel they blatantly tanked and didnt even try tis season. I dont think that should be rewarded with Anthony Davis. Ateam that actually tried should get Davis. Bobcats should stay in the depths of hell. Who trades their star players a year after they make playoffs. Way to show tyrus and Augustine that you give a fuck about winning

What star player did Charlotte trade away?

I think their performance this year was embarrassingly bad, but I can't fault them for trading away overpriced mediocrity. They made terrible, shortsighted moves just to sneak into the playoffs that one year.

No-one owes Tyrus anything. He should be trying to show anyone that will watch that HE cares about winning.

I like how Beal's height keeps getting shorter and shorter as the draft gets here. Pretty soon we are going to have people worrying about if he is even 6'0 :king:

I think the Artest comparison is a good one. MKG is a more athletic and not crazy version of artest.

One major difference is that Ron shot only 41% and MKG shot almost 50%. MKG is a much smarter player than Artest ever was. Further, Artest was the 3rd best player for a team that reached the eilite 8, MKG was the best player for a team that dominated all year and easily won the national championship.

I agree their games are similar, but MKG is a far better player than Artest for many reasons.

If that's true, then you're predicting that MKG will be a star in the NBA. Artest was always border-line.

I said this in another thread, but I really like the idea of taking Doron Lamb at 24, if we take MKG. I think that 1-3 if really balanced.

We need a legit C

MKG + Lamb + Irving would be great, but that doesn't fix our problems down low. Of course we could look to FA as well.

Thank you for titling this thread without the "A closer look at..." intro.

Feels like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is already a Cavalier!

Yes, that is my prediction. He will be a perennial all star imo. Lots of sf make all star games with not so great 3 point shots. The key to his development will be to have a decent mid range game and to further develop his many strengths.

Typically every draft has 3-6 all star level players, one who is almost mvp level and 1 or 2 others who are perennial. If I had to guess now, MKG would be one that would make numerous all star games before the end of his career.

I would also be for taking Fab Melo if he lasts late in the 1st.
