MLB - Trade Rumors and Speculation

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Better off starting Shelley Duncan in right...

I'm not a fan of getting Francoeur either, but I don't know about him being worse than Duncan.

Francoeur's OPS is .661, making Shelley Duncan look like Hank Aaron right now..

Chris Perez and Choo are the guys they need to look at moving. The bullpen is the one unit that appears to have some quality depth and Perez will price himself out of here shortly. I'd sell high on him. Choo is basically in the same boat. Unless they are serious about winning next year (and I mean serious, not just saying they are serious), then it might be time to cash in on him also. He will likely leave in FA after next season and should be able to bring a nice haul with the way he has bounced back to his old self over the last couple of months.

Those two should be able to net you several at or near major league ready talents. This team still has a bunch of holes to fill and they don't have the money to plug them in FA. I think Perez could be filled in for with very minimal drop in results, especially if Allen is legit and can take on Pestano's role. There really is nobody ready to replace Choo at this time, but the high level minors cupboard is pretty bare and needs to be stocked.

The Mets were one of the teams trying to get Brett Myers. Could be a place to send Perez since they have a good mix of ML ready outfield prospects and starting pitching prospects, which is what we need.

By ML ready prospects are we talking about guys that can come in and make an impact on the team in the future, or guys who will play well enough to remain in major league baseball and that's about it?

Not all of them, but just looking at the Mets top prospects they seem to be "ready" soon. Heres a list.

Heck, I would trade Perez for Lucas Duda.

EDIT: The list I gave, most of those guys aren't in AAA, my bad :chuckles:

I just hope the front office realizes that making trades to try to win this year is futile. They are an average to below average team, that's just the way it is. Being a seller is a better option than being a buyer this year.

To me its a sellers market this year. With the extra wild card and teams unsure of what to do, the Indians might be able to get a good haul for Choo, or Perez.

Maybe even something for Hafner.

No way the Indians trade Choo or Perez this season, nor should they. I can understand not selling the farm to "go for it" this season. But the way this team is set up, they need to at least go for it 2013 and 2014. Choo and Jimenez are probably gone after 2013. Cabrera is probably gone after 2014. If they do wave the white flag this season, they should be looking to acquire ML ready players who can help them contend next season.

What this team lacks is a spark. It's a shame we couldn't land Youk. I thought he could be that for us.

The Indians flat out missed the boat of Kevin Youkilis. According to Pluto, he would have cost Josh Tomlin. Josh freaking Tomlin. He would have been a perfect fit.

This should have been a "contending year" also and they didn't do anything except try to capture lightning in the bottle with broken down vets. What is going to be different about next year?

Eventually, this team has to set up a small window and go for it. I thought the Ubaldo trade was a signal that they were ready to go for it, then they didn't make any meaningful moves in the offseason. They are straddling the fence between trying to compete right now and build for the future and it's just spitting out a mediocre product with little promise moving forward. Either they make some moves to try to be a legit threat next season before key members start walking in FA or they are looking at another mini rebuild. It's time to pick a course and go with it.

They still wouldn't have had enough to do anything.

Even if Youklis continues to play well...
