So Long, Mo Gotti Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mo had a 52-point game this season....

Mo has flaws, but when you have a minimal amount of money lying around, you aren't going to get top notch players.

Are you telling me he would be worse than Delly? Would we be a better team with Mo as the backup and Delly as the #3, or would that make us worse off somehow?

I'd like a veteran backup PG, and the only realistic free agent options are Mo or Norris Cole.

Problem is, guys who have a variety of skills are going to command more than what we can offer them.

Another playmaker is a need for us. Mo will be fine, especially if Shump stays. We also saw Kyrie improve defensively this season.

We need a guy who can provide scoring and playmaking ability should Kyrie get hurt again

I said a long time ago that Mo would be a good option this off-season, if we don't trade for him during the season, since I felt it likely he would like to return to Cleveland to be reunited with LeBron, even if he no longer owns that home on the lake in Rocky River or wherever it is (and he no longer owns it per a recent tweet of his).

I think even most of his detractors would agree he isn't a bad signing depending on the price/contract.

I'm sure he would like a multi-year deal, and I'm sure he would like the Cavs' mini MLE.

But I am exploring other options before I give him that, and I can't imagine giving him more than 2 years realistically. He got only a one year deal last year for roughly mini MLE money from one of the worst teams in the league. Yes, he scored a lot last year, but it was on volume shooting on bad teams with subpar efficiency.

Andre Miller of a few years ago would be a decent option. He has been a good PG for years and has the ability to control a game. Part of what we need at the backup PG position is a player that will control the game and not panic.

Mo is a perfect fit for one of our biggest needs this off season. We don't need a 3 and D guard. We need someone who can dribble the ball and not turn it over. Someone who can get his own shot. And create for others. I'd be more than happy to take mo back (see avatar)

While I think nostalgia trips are usually bad ideas the Cavs really couldn't do much better than Mo for the MLE.

At the very least he would give us some much needed offensive punch off the bench and allow the team to take it easy with Kyrie.

Bringing mo to provide play making ability

Lmao

Dude is a short SG

KEEP IT MOVING

It really doesn't matter who is who. Delly and Mo are different players with different skills. Both skills we need. Delly that in your face defender who can give a quick spark and energy off the bench when needed. Mo that in your face basket-maker who is a jump shot specialist, and can also control the point and our offense which gives LeBron an added break in many ways. Both players are needed on our bench.

I welcome the idea of Mo coming back.

19th in the league in total assists last year (more than Kyrie), 15th in the league in assists per game, 9th in the the league in assist %...

Your shit is getting stale fast, step it up.

The simple fact that the guy can create off the dribble means he adds play making ability. For all my love of Delly, he's basically a 3-D player. His ability to create off the dribble is below average, and the few plays he does make seem to be mostly luck.

In situations where we need O from our bench we can play Mo. When we need D we can play Delly.

It would be a cool subplot in the upcoming season too: can former teammates LeBron and Varejao and Mo Williams finally get the ring that they tried and failed previously to obtain? We definitely need more players who can score and who can pass. We can't let what happened in the finals ever happen again.

You could actually have Mo and Delly on the floor together in short bursts as well. One could catch and shoot from the other, and you'd likely have Love and/or LeBron on the floor with them at the same time.

This is a no-brainer to me if he's interested. He's a great fit.
