Moondog Wears Steelers Jersey

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't see this as a big deal really, it's just the mascot getting the support of the home crowd. There's no big significance to it. Was this event televised and broadcast all over the news stations? Besides we're the winners anyway when you think about it, Pittsburgh fans cheering on a Cleveland team.

Also to clear it up, Moondog is named after one of the famous rock 'n' roll DJs from Cleveland Alan Freed (the man who coined the term "rock 'n' roll), who called himself "Moondog". The mascot is a tribute to our rock heritage.

do you actually care what some guy who plays for the Cavs does in his off time?

Your post makes no sense on any level.

Actually, yours makes no sense.

Moondog is just a mascot. LeBron ****ing James is not "some guy".

And Thanks for the insight on the mascot, though it'd be more fitting if we still had the Rockers, and had a guy in a foam cavalier suit for the Cavs.

Sure I do, as do millions of LeBron's fans. He represents the team, city, and the state. We didn't put KingofAK and KingofOH on the license plates of his car, but we did give him the keys to Akron and Cleveland.

Moondog is a guy in a suit. He could be replaced tomorrow and hardly anyone would know the difference.

Your post makes no sense on any level.

Sounds like your stuck on level one.

Lebron James did whatever he did on his personal, free time.

Moondog is the physical representation of the organization, created in order to interact with the fans. He did what he did in an officially sanctioned manner DURING a game, not only wearing another city's colors but ripping off and throwing down the city of Clevelands.

Did Lebron rip off an Indians jersey and throw it on the ground then put on his Yankees gear while he was on the job for the Cavs? Lebron wore his gear because he was a fan of those teams since he was a child, not in order to get a couple more dollars.

I think you have a little crush on LBJ. Any way you are wrong and right. This is not a big deal some stupid dog wearing a Steelers jersey is no big deal. And LBJ wearing a yanks cap isn't a big deal either.

Well said -- who gives a shit either way. Moondog is probably a chick who was really athletic but too ugly to be a cheerleader. Chicks always wear other teams' gear for stupid reasons.

I've said this before and I will say it again. The fact that the teams are both located in the city of Cleveland has little to do with the actual fan base. I would imagine that less than 5% of any teams total fan base lives within the actual city limits of a certain team. Not to mention, there is no connection between ownership, management, or players of Cleveland sports teams -- these are separate businesses, in separate sports, at different talent levels.

The owners of the three separate franchises couldn't care less about each other -- they care about making money. If marketing to other fan bases makes Dan Gilbert more money, then that means he has more to spend on talent for the Cavs. *uck the Browns -- their season is in the toilet anyways -- beating the Giants doesn't change that. And if Lebron wearing a Yankees hat gets him more media attention and more money from sponsers, then he has a better chance of being happy with all of the money he is making here in Ohio. And if Lebron is going to leave Ohio (and I hope he doesn't) -- him wearing an Indians hat isn't going to change that. Not to mention, we should be glad that he's so open and honest about the teams he likes -- that way when he says things like "I'm not going anywhere" -- we know we can believe him because he just lays it all out there for the public to see.

Remember -- this site is called Real Cavs Fans -- not real Cleveland/Ohio fans.

So?

As I said.

I give a shit about LeBron and what LeBron does.

I don't care about the team's mascot. They could fire the dog, eliminate all the half time and extraneous entertainment, ditch the blaring music and I'd cheer.

But I'd kind of miss LeBron if they canned him.

Then why are you posting in this thread? It's ABOUT Moondog.

Nobody outside of Ohio gives a shit about the Browns, or Indians because they haven't done anything. Bandwagon fans will only hop on if a team is doing good. The Cavs have millions of fans outside of Ohio and i'm one of them. Does that mean that I am a bandwagon fan? No because if I were i'd have liked the Celts last year not the Cavs. Likewise this year i'd be all over the Rockets cocks. I hate all of this he is a representation of our state shit because he isn't a representation of your state, but a person who means less to the Cavs organization than the guys that sell hot dogs outside of the games (cheap shot but I had to take it :)). LeBron James is not replaceable, but this MoonDog means nothing to the Cavs.

way off there, only 5% of a teams fan base is local? are you serious or way exagerating to prove a point? 75% of most teams fan base is local....and the smaller the market, the higher local percentage it seems. The tv contracts are based on local markets, so is radio, news paper coverage, etc....What did LBJ with the hat...he should have known better, but the only thing that suprises me about it is how image concious lebron is and to do that....as for the dog wearing a steelers uniform....bad taste, but who care. Its a free world, both lbj and moondog are free to do what they want as long as they keep their employers...ie dan gilbert and the cavs...happy.

Funny thing is both moondog and lbj have the exact same looking paychecks, its just LBJ's has many more zeros after the camma..lol...just a funny thought its the same payroll that pays the hack as pays Lebron.

There is a difference between "local" and "withing the city limits" -- one is a very specific distance the other is very general and ambiguous -- I was being very specific when I said "within the city limits." I guarantee that less than 5% of fans live within the "actual city limits." I'm not off base at all -- in fact, I might be over the mark. I live an hour away from Cleveland -- and I'm considered "local" by television and radio stations -- but I don't give a *uck about the Indians, Browns, or the city of Cleveland. The only other Ohio team I follow is the Buckeyes. Not because I live in Ohio, but because I graduated from OSU.

Lebron's paychecks don't only come from the Cavs franchise, but substantially from endorsements. Thus him wearing a Yankees hat actually is a good business move because the companies that endorse him get more media attention by proxy. The more LBJ is in the news, the more the companies that are associated with his brand get attention.

Actually, if you want LBJ to stop wearing that stuff, then stop making a big deal out of it that way he doesn't get media attention from sports writers printing articles about how pissed off Cleveland fans are.

Gee, I dunno. Maybe you should read my original post and you'll see why I posted in the thread.

I've tried to read your posts in this thread and none have made any sense at all given the parameters of the discussion, which I've pointed out. We'll just have to agree to disagree, even though I'm not even sure what you're deal is; because at this point we just appear to be wasting each other's time.
