My First Cavs Game (Cleveland Trip)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Go to the Rock Hall on Sat when you get in. It's cool. You can walk down to the Lake through Voinovich Park next door too.

Go to the westside market and walk around sat afternoon. It's cool.

Go grab a beer at Great Lakes. It's across the street from WS market in Ohio City. Plenty of spots to eat there too.

Go out either in Ohio City, E 4th Street, or W 6th sat night. Casino is close to E 4th and nice if you like gambling. Tilted Kilt for dinner I f you like tits on your servers.

You can take the Healthline (bus) to the Art Museum Sunday morning. It's great and free. Bus is $2.25 each way, buy your tickets at the bus stops on Euclid. Get off at Adelbert Rd. Museum opens at 10. Can check out til noon and head back for the game.

Go to the game at 2. You want to see everything beforehand.

Enjoy your trip and go cavs!

Oh, and be careful at night. Pretty safe downtown but after 1am who knows...

You've got lots of great ideas. It's going to be a beautiful today today, so great day to enjoy the city.

I echo what the other posters have said- there are a ton of really good restaurants here- eat well. I am a vegetarian as well and love Flaming Ice Cube, townhall, and Sushi 86.

I'd highly recommend walking down E 4th and then Euclid, and also the horseshoe casino.

Have a great time and Go Cavs.

I'll address you all when I get a minute - it's still too nice outside to write a lot :)

But you guys are amazing! Thanks so much, seriously. I read every word at least twice and I know all the tools at my disposal for all sorts of entertainment.

I'm eating at the Flaming Ice Cube as we speak, was hungry on East 4th and it was the closest vegan friendly place listed to my understanding.

Oddly enough from 2:30 until now I just walked around with my camera and just took it all in. Visited the Q, got a T shirt after like 30 mins of browsing, at least. When back to the Cleveland clothing company and got another. Went to the lebron billboard, looked at Jacobs field. Pictures, pictures, pictures. Euclid, Ontario. Just taking it all in. It's like I'm I'm a mythical place as a long time Cavs fan who hears about these places all the time. I haven't been to downtown Cleveland since the 90s... Was in Lorraine and East Cleveland last time, in 2007 (wedding).

Can't thank you guys enough. I'll hit Instagram when it gets dark and try to imbed some here.

If rock hall is open last enough I'll go next (it's 4:50). Will grab my jacket and head down to Great Lakes brewery area as dusk approaches!

Sunday morning seems like a great time for a museum.

Such a Philly vibe here. Just smaller - but a proud city, great food, a city with a chip on its shoulder, and great sports fans.

So happy you went to FIC!! Did you like it? Is downtown jamming today? I work across from the casino, in tower city so I'm constantly walking around there. Love hearing about it from someone else's perspective.

I think the Rock Hall will be closed now, but you should go there tomorrow morning instead of the art museum. It's like $25 or so, but worth it and you can walk there. It really is a cool place.

I agree. Even though I prefer the Art museum (maybe because I had to go to the rock and roll HoF countless times as a kid on field trips and as an adult during grad school recruitments, I personally don't find it that fun anymore), I think for the morning before the game it would be better to stay downtown.

FIC was great!

Afterwards I went to my airbnb room on E12th near Chester and got my jacket. Walked to the mall and saw hundreds of people making noise about the red carpet... Miley Curus and some others got big applause and "oh my god" screams lol.

The mall is cool, I can see the lake and all. Was wondering if there was a "scenic" walk right by the water. I think I remember one near the Rock Hall but we're talking 1999. Am I right?

I got back on Superior and crossed the Bridge to Ohio City. Would be a great view from the bridge of not for the tall bars. Walked 25th down to Mitchell's I've Cream and got a scoop to taste. They run a mint in there, so much business!

Walking around this area now, about to run in the Brewery Shop and see what's happening.

I like walking places and taking in the place as a pedestrian on a short trip, and your downtown is built for that. Walking to the Rock Hall tomorrow AM sounds like the way to go.

Thanks again yall

Awesome. I wish it was going to be sunny tomorrow, like today, but when you go to the rock hall...before/after, take a short walk past it, down to the lake. I love it there and sometimes walk down there from my office on lunch.

If you like Sushi (they have great veggie futomaki)and need lunch plans tomorrow, Sushi 86 is on Prospect right past E. 4th near the Q. There's also a newly opened Barrio (Mexican) right next to it.

Whatever you decide, have a blast. Welcome to CLE :)

Noted! Thanks!

Was going to catch the red line to Tower City but from the station I saw that the skyline looked great on Lorain. So I took it, walked passed the Q and Jacobs Field. Got some great shots of the skyline and other things on the way that I can't wait to post-edit when I get home.

Now on West Fourth. No clue how many miles I've walked today but has to be over 8 with the going back to the room, wandering, circling, taking the long way. Loving it though.

One thing that has thrown me off is people on the streets actually talking to you. Happened twice. One dude saw me taking pix of the Q and asked "where are you from?" And if I was coming to see the game, etc. A young woman said to me a half block from Mitchell's Ice Cream "I'm so jealous of your ice cream". I'm awkward every time when approached. In North Jersey and New York you only talk to people when you are lost or homeless and begging. Says more about us than you though lol. I think people are nicer in most of the country.

Oddly enough my father has two brothers who have lived her since they were young adults and have raised their families in Cleveland. It's not the reason I became a Cavs fan (coincidence) but it is the reason I came to CLE in the late 90s. They live on the East Side. I stayed with one in 2007 for a night or two as well, for a friend's wedding. But this time I just wanted to stay downtown and do my own thing. You've all helped a lot!

I've been instagramming a bunch if anyone wants to follow what's happening in real time haha. @plainfieldview

Instagram is great and all but :fc67bc5d:

Very glad you're here and having fun. This is like Simmy without the 24-hour flight.

Just so you know- not sure where you're staying but you should be able to easily walk to tower city. The mall part is accessible right on Prospect past the Casino, on either side of the road. It's not great, but there are some shops and restaurants in there, and the Hard Rock Cafe, if you're interested. It will be crowded today b/c of the game.

Thx on Tower City!

This morning I decided to visit one of my uncles, so I caught Uber up to 117th and Kinsman on the east side around 8 after walking around with my camera starting at 6:45. Before going to my uncle's I met another walker - a dude from France living in Brooklyn who came out for the game - early 20s he seemed. But he's no Simmy - rooted for Miami last year lol. He was decked out in Cavs gear so even if not team loyal he is loyal to LBJ.

Anyway, my uncle dropped me off downtown at like 10:45. Needed food! And thanks to you all I knew to go to the Sushi or Mexican place by the Q. Sushi closed to Mexican it was. Got s few of the $3 tacos. Finished eating at 11:40 and walked to the Rock Hall but realized I had no time to really enjoy before game time.

So after another enjoyable walk in the sunshine I'm going back towards the Q! Didn't eat enough so I'll grab a little something and take pics of all the pregace hoopla before doors open at 1:30 :) plus I need to exchange for a larger believeland shirt.

People being nice is really hard to get used to lol

Just bumped into chipotle - I don't see why not. Need to fill up.

Amped!

OK so got my chipotle lol

Came down to the pregame activities outside the Q. Is that only for playoffs or all season? Man it was such an energy out there. Cleveland fans are great. I'll have more commentary about that later haha. I have been instagramming a bunch today... Look @ @plainfieldview. I plan to keep going as long as I see interesting things.

Anyway they ran out of my size in the shirt so I'll just keep my possibly too small Believeland haha

I am in section 113, directly behind that press area. And Michael Wilbon's name tag is on the eat in front of me. He is perhaps my favorite person in the national sports media, as an individual. Really excited to potentially meet him.

I came into the arena as soon as 1:30 came. After snapping a bunch of pix and wifi-ing them to my phone for instagram I'm just taking in being in this room before a game :). iPad on lap.

Fans smiles at you and say hi. Doesn't happen where I'm from lol.

Let's see if I can post my instagram posts on here for those that don't have it...I'll try in a second. Then I'll grab a pretzel or something - making up for the undereating I've done to this point I suppose.

It seems you can only embed Tweets. Correct me if I am wrong guys. If I can't imbed I will post the links to my IG posts. Would at least make it easier for those not familiar with it right?
