NBA 2K15

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Definitely didn't see that trailer lol. I was mostly talking about the still images that EA releases every year. They usually look very good but the result is the same, bad gameplay.

As far as 2K basically making the same game every year with a couple tweaks and upgrades, what's the problem? A complete overhaul of the controls and animations each year would be annoying and not necessary. As long as they continue adding some new modes, upgrade the rosters with the rookies, and fix some glitches and exploits that's enough for me.

I think 2K is at a point where the game is so good they don't have to completely change anything on a major level. All they need to do is just keep improving on the areas that need work and that's what they have been doing for a while. They come out with a good game every year.

I disagree. There are still so many issues with the game that haven't been fixed. The skating players, non-fluid dribbling, ridged animations, terrible contact in the paint, cheesing, lack luster myplayer mode... Oh, and most importantly the recovery of larger defensive players on the fast break. I can continue. Yes, there are some good things going for the game that don't need to be changed. Post up, on the move offense, passing, stamina... But I wouldn't say it's in a good place where they only need to make minor changes. The thing is people have been asking them to make these changes or at least work on them for years. And they really market the smallest changes like they're revolutionary. They considered MyCareer in 2K14 a 'new' experience. It played EXACTLY the same. Just because they added LeBron and Demarcus Cousins voice overs doesn't mean it was any different.

I know I'm being a stickler for this, but if you can honestly tell me 2K14 was even worth the upgrade from 2K12, I'll shut up.

All the criticisms you listed were valid...but I don't expect to ever buy a perfect sports game, or video game period. There's always going to be exploits and glitches and shit like that. It's just an accepted reality. I can honestly say though that with each new 2K game, they patch up and improve upon many of the exploits in the previous release and that's enough for me.

And yes. I can honestly say that 2K14 was worth the upgrade from 2K12 :chuckle:

exploits and glitches are not the problem. 2k's gameplay is just filled with so much unrealistic BS. 2k may have nicer payer models and cleaner animations, but live takes the cake when it comes to real simulation basketball.

I WAS SOOO SOOO SOOOOOOOO WRONG. It looks like 2K14... For iOS and Android...

It looks like an arcade game. No fluidity, just looks unnatural, not even close to 2k14. It is the same old live shit.

I'm kind of ashamed that I let myself think it was any different. I think EA should just forget about basketball and split the people they have in that team between Madden, Fifa and NHL.

Have fun playing that shit Kookoo just posted above then..

Why the hell are people talking about NBA Live in this thread?

Get that trash the fuck outta here.

When the game could have been competition it was relevant but right now it looks like NBA 2K15 will be the only basketball game this year. That being said, this doesn't look like an improvement.

NBA Live was never going to compete, hasn't competed in years, and will never compete again.

I'm not letting an iphone recording clouding my judgment.

damn right i will! nba live = better gameplay. i certainly did not have any fun with 2k14 on next gen.. that game is total shit. and i love what i see in the live gameplay. i just think people are so close minded and stubborn and refuse to budge to the thought of new. the only reason im getting 2k15 at all is because it comes out 3 weeks prior to live. ive given up on 2k, and anyone who says they think 2k14 on next gen is even a decent product is a liar or all they care about is graphics and "cool edits"

Well I didn't really like 2k14 on Next Gen but then again I only played it once. On the 360 though 2K14 was a really good game. And people don't get Live because it's shitty...not because they're close-minded :chuckle:

The fact that 2K always gets better ratings and reviews contradicts what you're saying.

sure, but i also believe most people dont have my expectations.. i think most people look at graphics, "cool" features, and fun arcade gameplay. i look for simulation basketball. point blank period. i'm a very detail oriented person, and im just sick and tired of 2k's gameplay. cool dunks, identical player models, tattoos, shoes, sweat, and other stupid flashy stuff is not what i look at. 2k14 on next gen is so horrible... it disgusts me how bad it is..

2k15 rankings per Fear the Sword

Besides LeBron putting Shabazz Napier on a poster, the major takeaway from the trailer is that the game looks just as good, if not better, than 2k14. Chris Andersen's beard is immaculate and the Hornets' jerseys look amazing. Heck, they even got Ernie Johnson's wrinkle game down.

While we wait for training camp to start and the game to be released, NBA 2k15 also gives us something to aimlessly debate about in the meantime: player rankings. The rankings for the Cavs have allegedly been leaked, and can be seen below (h/t to Cavs Nation).

- LeBron James: 98

- Kevin Love: 89

- Kyrie Irving: 88

- Dion Waiters: 78

- Shawn Marion: 77

- Tristan Thompson: 76

- Anderson Varejao: 75

- Mike Miller: 74

- Matthew Dellavedova: 72

- John Lucas: 69

- James Jones: 69

- Malcolm Thomas: 66

- Brendan Haywood: 65

Some quick thoughts:

- Anderson Varejao appears quite low on this list, despite his reputation as a quality defensive center. There are a few explanations possible for this. First, injury history might rate into that, as Varejao's injuries over the past four years have made him very difficult to assess for anyone. Also, 2k for whatever reason always seems to underrate centers compared to players at other positions; I specifically remember from NBA 2k8 that Zydrunas Ilgauskas was rated at about an 80 or 81, on level with players like a beyond-washed up Steve Francis and Mike James. They do this every year to post players, so I'm not too concerned.

- 89 feels a little low for Love, given his stats last year. However, I do enjoy that they put Kyrie and Love one point apart, because we really do have no idea who is going to have the bigger role this year.

- 69 seems quite high for John Lucas. It's inconsequential, but John Lucas is that bad.

- Finally, I think Waiters and Thompson are rated properly, given where they currently are. Waiters has more scoring potential, and thus gets the slightly higher rating, but I think these are both fair. I expect both to be better this season than they were last year, but we all know how difficult it is to project these two's development, so I'm fine with 78 and 76.
