Espn recently posted an article with comments from Adam Silver being Open to not only changing how teams get into the playoffs but overall realignment

What would this look like?
I made some adjustments using the NFL As reference

Move the Wizards to the East division, Pistons to the Central (with the Cavs). and the Pacers to the Cavs division. Then move Minnesota to the American League Central. Also, swap Dallas and San Antonio.

I put most of the ABA teams in the American Conference.
but the chart was to indicate what it might look like not what it would

I know, I was just giving my input on what I would like to see.

out the gate looks like people are open to realignment

Do you think people outside of northeast ohio gave a damn about Cleveland before LeBron came back? :chuckle:

Sure they did! They were all wondering when Kyrie was going to leave us and join the Lakers!

Definitely would not do it this way. Would still have conferences organized geographically, or no conferences at all (there was an article proposing a 5-division format; probably too revolutionary for me, but interesting, nonetheless).

This was the article. Thought it was very thought-provoking, if nothing else.

Not a fan of the 5 regions.

I do however like the idea of two conferences both spanning coast to coast and breaking up the free agency edge the west has on the east for the most part

The conference system was setup when travel was a concern both financially and for the players.

These days they fly in planes that are ultra comfortable with all of the trimmings. The conference system is archaic and useless. The playoffs would be better served with the best teams playing meaningful basketball.

7th in the east is 22-29 7th in the west is 32-19. That is absolutely ridiculous. 22-29 has no business in the playoffs.
