New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The shield finale or breaking bad finale? Which one was better? ?

I'd take The Shield, personally. Breaking Bad's finale was more entertaining, but much like Sons of Anarchy I thought it wrapped up everything a little too cleanly for Walt. The Shield had a much darker, more fitting finale given all the terrible things that Vic and the rest of the Strike Team did over the course of the series.

The Shield finale was just far more ballsy because it was very satisfying, but also didn't tie up everything into a nice clean knot. Pretty much no one is left happy when it's all over.

Also, I don't think it's in the finale, but there's a scene in the last season of The Shield that is probably my favorite television scene of all time.

For those who have seen it, it's the scene where Vic reveals all of his crimes to get immunity.

Chiklis just knocks that scene out of the fucking park.

Did anyone catch the mid-season finale of 'Arrow'? Jaw-dropping stuff!

I just did, I kinda saw that coming.

Obviously he isn't dead, the show is completely about him. I'm guessing they introduce the Lazarus pit to bring him back. They hinted at it when Ras said nobody had challenged him in 67 years when he only looks 40.

Yep, I agree 100%. Although that fall from the cliff is going to be hard to explain. Rumors also circulating that Merlyn is planning on reviving Tommy in the pit - thoughts?
Plus, Amell shared this on Facebook the other day:

Nice, I hadn't seen that. Pretty much confirms it. Also I kind of theorize Ras let him live. A guy like that doesn't miss the heart with a killing blow.

As far as bringing Tommy back, I just don't see it. He doesn't really have a role anymore. Unless they have him brainwashed by Malcolm to become the next dark archer. Which is what I though they were going to do before he died.

Just started Mad Men on Netflix. Does this shit pick up at all?

I think I watched the first 6 episodes and then I bailed. Haven't been back.

I watched season 8-9 of Always Sunny. "The gang makes Lethal Weapon 6" may easily be the best episode of that entire series. :hsughwiggle: Mac in blackface had me dying.

Absolutely. Before Amell posted it I thought it was just a bit of fan fun but him sharing it pretty much does confirm that that's the way they're going to go with it. Why do you think Ras would let him live? That's the only thing I'm skeptical about. Ras doesn't let his victims escape alive so there has to be a considerable deviation from the literature to say that he intentionally did not kill him. But that was a pretty lethal blow at the end!

I had the same theory RE: the Dark Archer but then assumed they had just given that role to Malcolm. But this from Wiki always had me wondering otherwise:

"Tommy Merlyn appeared in The New 52 (a reboot of the DC Comics universe) in Green Arrow #0. Five years ago, Tommy was Ollie Queen's best friend. During a hostage crisis on a Pacific Ocean oil rig with a villain named "Iron Eagle", Merlyn was caught in an explosion. Fast forward to the present day, Tommy, branded as the "Mystery Patient", awoke."

The part about him being caught in an explosion and re-awakening could certainly manifest in Arrow. Plus, I'm still refusing to believe that they brought him back for the flashback episode earlier this season for no real, significant reason. Feel like there might be more to it.

the only reason I felt like Ras might let him live is because he has some future plans for him. He gave Ollie multiple chances to back out. Then when it was time for the killing blow, he stabbed him in the ribs instead of the heart. I just don't see a guy that lethal missing, so in my mind there is a reason he stabbed him there.

It could be that he wanted him to suffer and linger. Could be he wanted time for that prayer. Or he could want to use him for something in the future.

It's also rumored that a league member takes him to the pit. It could be Maseo, or someone acting on his orders.

There's no way he could just let Ollie live in front of the rest of the league. So maybe he did all of this to make it look like he killed him.

It's a crazy theory, I know.

Been binge-watching American Horror Story and in the middle of season 3. I heard season 3 was boring but I am digging it more than 2 but less than 1.

Anyone watch Ink Master?

the live finales are always so awkward, you can tell this show is heavily edited when they can't even read from cue cards correctly or their dramatic pauses last 30 seconds longer than it should. I kind of watch the show because of tradition, I am not into this show's outcome as say I am with Face Off. I kinda tune into the finale just to see more bickering between past contestants. I will say though, congrats to Jason. He deserved it but I felt Cleen was much better as an artist, he just had 1 worse tattoo and at the wrong time. I will say though that if Josh lasted, he would have won.

I always develop favorites and I liked the 2nd chance aspect the last 2 years. At some point, Cleen will be called back up...he was good for ratings.

I liked AHS Season 3 too - that's the one in New Orleans, right? Season 2 was cool, and I'm not really digging this season. Haven't seen Season 1 yet, but we have it on Blu-Ray.

Thinking of getting Amazon Prime. We don't have any of those packages that offer TV shows, etc - is the Prime the best of the bunch?

I am down to a few episodes left in Coven. I actually like it more than Freak Show. I feel Freak Show is fucking awful.

Had so much promise and I feel they just took it completely the wrong way.

I mean Prime has HBO, which Netflix doesn't. I have both. And honestly, I am happy with both. Netflix is cheap as hell, I really have no idea how much Prime is, I am assuming it comes out of my account every month or year.

Definitely worth it for the cheaper prices on Amazon and 2-day shipping, etc...I never had HBO so I am just starting to watch Vikings, The Pacific is next, I always watch Band of Brothers around the holidays, The Wire, etc...and unless I am a dumb fuck, I believe every episode of The Wire and some others are on Prime now. There used to be just Season 1. But some HBO shows have every episode now.

Short answer, it is worth it.

Prime is $99 a year. I didn't renew it this year, but probably will get it back before summer. HBOGO is supposed to do something like Netflix, so I can then just cancel my HBO subscription with Cox.

If you buy a lot of things from Amazon, prime basically pays for itself. It's like a great bonus to have the free tv and movies.

I discovered they got some classic cartoons on Prime. I've been watching Pinky and the Brain before I go to bed. But they also got Rocko's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy, etc. Many nickelodeon shows from my childhood. I love Rocko's Modern Life too which they used to have on Netflix and I watched a lot of those, but they pulled it off Netflix when I was half way through watching them.

Prime is absolutely worth it. I was a member before they even had streaming. I'm the dude who hates shopping and buys all his gifts from amazon. Then all of a sudden they threw in free streaming as well.

It's nice because Nettlix and Amazon have different content. Obviously there is some overlap but there are some shows you get on prime that you don't on Netflix, and vice versa.

It comes out to less that $10 a month for a good collection of streaming and free 2 day shipping, plus the various prime only discounts. Totally worth it.
