New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Show jumped the shark about 5 seasons ago.

Eh...I still think each season these days has three to four good to great episodes. Last year we got the one where they turned black, the water park episode, and hero or hate crime. Plus the Wolf Cola episode had some great laughs and an absolutely brilliant intro.

Two years ago we got Chardee MacDennis 2, the sky trip episode, the one where they move to the suburbs (one of the overall best episodes in the series imo), Being Frank, and the cruise ship two-parter.

Three years ago we got the original Boggs episode, the group dating episode (a classic), Charlie Work (the best episode in the entire series), the one where they miss the boat, and the Family Fight one.

I could go on, but you get the idea.

Basically every season of Always Sunny is 3-5 great episodes, a couple of decent ones, and a couple of shitty ones.

Always sunny is and always had been a mixed bag

Decided to re-watch Spartacus because I never actually finished the fourth season the last time I watched it and it came up on my Netflix suggestions. Even a decade later I'm still impressed at how swiftly this show can switch between Zach Snyder style action-adventure and softcore porn. It's just hilarious when the show cuts from a brutal death to a completely unnecessary two minute bath sex scene.

Sir !!! Bath and Sex are both necessary !!!!!

Rewatching the wire via binge. I sincerely think it’s even better than the first time around. I think this is the best-written show I’ve ever personally watched.

Fucking masterpiece. And I was that sopranos-over-all guy.

I think it's better on a rewatch because you know who all the characters are and you thus catch a lot of little details it was easy to miss the first time around when you're spending half the time trying to remember who everyone is.

Re-watching The Last Kingdom since the new season drops in two weeks.

The scene from season one where Ubba has his archers fire arrows at the king to see if God will protect him is one of my all-time favorite TV scenes. Tried finding it on YouTube to link it here, but could only find the ending after all the good stuff happens.

That show was great with the original actor, it got way worse when they had to replace him. Fuck cancer

I don't think it was so much the actor as it was just that season three was the worst season. Season two was perfectly fine when they did the flashback story. The problem just seemed to be that Glaber wasn't a great main bad guy, and season three suffered because he's not very interesting. Season one and two had Batiatus to carry them, and he was awesome. Season four had Caesar and Crassus, both of whom were a lot of fun. Glaber just had no depth, whereas all the other bad guys I listed were at least interesting outside of just being despicable people.

Haunting of Hill House - Depressing drama with horror elements. The acting is top notch, production values are rich but when it comes to being scared consistently - it fails to deliver. An the ending - so so

The Bodyguard - Starts out as a fine mystery as Homeland - gets as unrealistic as Jack Ryan but the ending leaves you asking more questions. This had the potential to be a great show but the last episode was just ore dramatic than sensible.

Origin on YouTube premium was a nice find that came up this week. Its about a group of people who wake up to find their space ship empty. Each episode follows the group in space and shows how each character got there. It's a darker version of lost in space.

If you have YouTube tv you can watch it for free. YouTube keeps change the name of their premium service with orginal shows. I think slowly they are building a library of good orginal shows. At some point it might even be worth subscribing if you don't have YouTube tv.

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is bingeworthy.

Yiu fucks should have found this before I did.

Yeah definately binge worthy. I figured everyone knew about it because it won all those awards.

@David. not giving credit typical.

Rachel Brosnahan was strikingly pretty on that show and her character is incredibly attractive. Like you see a million women on shows now, but I find that character incredibly attractive physically and personality wise. Very unique. It’s possible that’s subjective to me, but I felt they managed to write a strong female character that was just cool af while being equally interesting for both males and females. I think that’s really tough to do and they’re nailing it.

To elaborate...whenever I see shows my wife watches, the women are SO FUCKING EMOTIONAL. I understand women really are emotional so it’s a reflection of real life, but I don’t see the value in out of control emotional reaction so I don’t enjoy watching it onscreen. I can’t deal with it and always walk out of the room. I like that whenever you see some minor emotional eruptions from Midge they are followed by her taking control of the situation. Women could be well served to take a page out of her book. The other end of the spectrum is movies with the “badass” female character who has zero emotional reaction which isnt realistic either. Something in between is possible and exists (or can exist with effort) in real life...that’s why I find Midge to be a really interesting and attractive character.

Great character development of Joel too. They didnt at all take the one-dimensional easy way out with him. Wont elaborate anymore.

Man alive are these kids getting neglected...
