New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
**Edit** -- The debate as to The Wire vs. Breaking Bad -- Breaking Bad is always going to top The Wire, for me. I felt there were no weak seasons for Breaking Bad.

Agree on the no weak seasons for BB. Hell, there was only one really weak episode :chuckles:

Always skip that damn fly episode if I'm rewatching.

Almost thru season 3 of the Sopranos. I would rate it ahead of BB because Gandolfini is so good. Cranston was great, don't get me wrong, but the way that Gandolfini controls the screen is amazing.

It's beyond a cliche to say it, but "College" is the best episode and at least on par with anything BB did. The Sopranos was always structured differently than BB. BB was more of a 3rd act story the whole way. the Sopranos was much more conventional and basically invented the seasonal "big bad" format.

For anybody that has Amazon Prime, they are doing this thing right now where they have 10 new exclusive pilot seasons up, and you can go through and watch them and then review them and rate them. That will decide which ones make it, and which ones don't. I'm not sure how many of the 10 shows will get to make it, but I watched three, and I hope they all do. I watched Mozart in the Jungle, The Rebels, and The After.

Mozart in the Jungle is probably a sure fire to make it. Its the advertisement that is put up to go watch the movies, so I'm assuming it will make it. It looks different, and isn't something I typically watch but I liked it.

The Rebels I really hope makes it, because I like that Josh Peck guy and the chick in it is hot. Its about a the wife of who's husband died that own a professional football team, and she has to take over as the owner when her husband dies and she doesn't know a thing about football. Josh Peck's character is like her personal assistant, and she appoints him as GM of the team and he has no experience whatsoever. Affion Crocket is in it too as one of the players. Some of the comedy is kinda corny to me, but I like football and think it would be an interesting show.

Finally, The After is a show about the apocolypse, and I don't want to go into full detail but it was pretty good. A pretty hot chick gets naked and swims in a pool, so there is that. The only problem is that I REALLY didn't like how the pilot episode finished up and I don't like the direction it is going. It got weird. Before the end, I was really on board with the show, but I would probably still watch it.

And ironically I didn't watch the show that has by far the highest rating called "Bosch". It almost has a full 3,000 votes (compared to the other shows that have like 700 votes) and it is a FULL five stars right now. The main actor has a pretty recognizable face, but his name is Titus Welliver and I've never actually heard his name before. Anyway, that is apparently a show about a LAPD homicide detective. I'm just really not into all these detective, crime shows. There are way too many so thats why I wasn't interested. But with this high of a rating, I might have to give it a chance and get back to you.

Bosch is based on a series of books IIRC. There's a built in audience there.

I'm now through 4 seasons of The Sopranos and the 5th season is building to a moment of no return. They were always all going to hell but the end basically leaves no other alternative. No mercy.

Just started to watch Louis on netflix. The third episode with Ricky Gervais nearly killed me with laughter. Love how dark the comedy is

I'm sure it has been mentioned, but this True Detective show is unreal. The cinematography, the acting, the story, the dialogue, etc.

Every episode is better than the one before it. I know its only 4 episodes in, but so far I'd put it up there with Game of Thrones and House of Cards.

We've got an entire separate thread for it.

Louie is like my favorite show on TV I think. It gets better and darker as it goes on. Season 2/3 were better than season 1 even

Lemme think-
You wanna watch bummer/blueberries, God, the Late Show trilogy in season 3. any of the episodes with Pam Adlon are great.

Basically every episode is great.

Does anyone watch Vikings? I'm trying to find a couple more shows to watch. I currently watch Game of Thrones and Walking Dead (unfortunately). I definitely want to check out The Wire.

Yeah, it's a pretty good show.

House of Cards returns tomorrow.
