Non-Varejao Trade Ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I like the way our front court is rounding out with Thompson, Zeller, Speights, and Varejao. At this point, I say keep Varejao and reduce his minutes to 30mpg or less to help with his durability issues. Draft the BPA in 2013, and look to acquire a veteran SF that can knock down 3s and play solid defense. Why sell the farm to get someone like Love when you already have a budding superstar and some nice complimentary players?

You put him next to Tristain, not trade Tristain to get him.
They'd pair great together, but I don't see what assets we have to offer Minny to get Love without giving up Tristan. It's only because Tristan has played so well the past month that I even ask if we could put together a package around him that could net Love.

With an injury history and a whiney attitude, who will jump ship at the chance to go to LA.
I wouldn't get too worried about a broken hand as far as long term impact goes. I can understand why he whines about the organization he's been stuck in. Bolting to LA is a real possibility - but he's signed on for at least 2 more years and we'd have his Bird rights.

We could likely write it off due to injury and sample size, but in the 18 games Kevin Love played this season, he averaged 18 PPG on 35.2% shooting from the field. 35% as a PF. That's absurdly pathetic and if some crazy deal for Love were on the table, a little reason for concern.

Re: Tracking the 2013 Draft Picks

Still only 4 games out!

I still see a Howard for Lopez Trade with a 3rd Team getting involved.

There's no reason for the Lakers to make that trade. Even at 32, Pau Gasol is still a more mobile, better passing version of Lopez. If the Lakers trade Dwight, they'll want picks, a two way wing, and at least one young front court player than can defend the pick and roll.

Re: Tracking the 2013 Draft Picks

Cavs get: Hill/Bogans

Lakers get: Lopez/Speights/Brooks

Nets get: Howard

The time has come for the Cavs to PUSH the Lakers to the 8th Seed. Pick 16th or Pick 27th? Buy trading the 16th Pick, our (2) 2nds and maybe a future 1st we may be to get back into the Mid-Lotto!

Sorry dude but that trade would be piece of crap for us. We can recieve much more for Mo Speights.

No Shit! The point was to help the Lakers so we end up with a Pick around 16 instead of 27th. Is getting another late 1st for Mo a better option?

Lakers are behind 8th seed for Playoffs, so how in the hell they can get 27th pick this year? Lakers pick will maybe go to Suns, because maybe Lakers don't even make Playoffs. Their pick this year is mostly 13th-20th. So how in the hell trading Mo help them get 16th instead of 27th and they probably wont touch Playoffs? Mo can be a lot better piece on our roster than any of the players in region 16th-25th pick this draft. Think about it :coffee:.

Edit: If you think about swap Miami's pick (27th) and LAL pick, than even that trade won't make them much better. Brook is exactly what Gasol is, so that will be hilarious, and Brook don't rebound, doesn't play D, so it will be like 2 big dudes, slow as hell, good shooters, good back to basket and poor defenders. If they are this bad with Dwight, than with Brook they will be even worst. Btw. we can swap that picks next year too, and next year the draft should be better and deeper than this year.

Even though this is helping the Lakers and possibly getting us the rights to swap up to their pick in the process, I would rather get something a little more tangible out of Speights then just a free give away for a hope and prayer that it boosts the Lakers into the playoffs.

I'd be fine with trading Gibson for Hill if that were a possibility. Gibson would actually have to stay healthy for more than a day or two for that to be a possibility though, unfortunately. Dude needs some deer velvet.

When Daniel Gibson plays basketball, he gets injured. It's really unfortunate considering he has chosen to be a professional basketball player for a living.

If the goal is to help the lakers, I am thinking there is another way.

What about a 3 team deal involving us, the Lakers and Indiana.

Lakers: Out Pau Gasol, Robert Sacre In Speights, Boobie, Hansborough,Trade exception
Indiana : Out Granger, Tyler Hansborough, 2014 first rounder, In Gasol, Luke Walton
Cavs: Out Speights, Gibson, Walton In Granger, Sacre, 2014 first rounder

Lakers are better with Speights and Dwight than with Gasol. Boobie has some three and D in him, and Hansborough is an expiring young big. Trade exception and expiring contracts give lakers flexibilty if the season goes down in flames, as they could do a sign and trade for Dwight that involves two big contracts (Think Atlanta, Brooklyn, Memphis or even New York)

Indiana has done fine without Grainger, and could play Pau alongside Hibbert or West. Pau statistcally is much better as a center.

Cavs get another pick, as well as a legit small forward, with a conveniently expiring contract, and a long shot center who has exceeded his draft expectations.
