Maybe he means we'd be getting the future books spoiled for us. But if they're not out yet, who cares? I mean, I know some book readers will bitch about that scenario, but I'm not going to avoid the internet for the however many years it takes Martin to finish the books. I'm fine with watching the show even if it passes the books. Given that D&D will then only have a guideline to follow rather than an actual blueprint, the show will end up being significantly different from the books anyway, even moreso than it is already.

That said, I'm not under the illusion that the show will somehow be "different" from the final book product. Some details may be different like they are right now but the actual plot will remain the same, just as it has for 4 seasons now. That's why I said I will be hard pressed to actually read the books after watching the show.

I wasn't trying to say that the general plot wouldn't be mostly the same. I was just assuming that there would be a ton of changes to the details, as we're already seeing this season despite the writers having an actual blueprint to follow. Left unchecked and with only a list of events to follow, who knows what the hell D&D will do to the story?

Not everyone is going to read the books so they should have a thread to discuss the latest episode and the show in a general. If you don't like that simply don't come into this thread.
