Official Rock / Indie / Alternate Music Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I almost forgot, this little gem is for those reflective mornings when you are sitting at your desk and wondering why in the hell you came into work today. Seriously, there is so much going on in this song, that I totally forget whatever might be stressing me or whatever and become immersed in listening to this shit.

Give it a full listen. I gurantee that if you are doing soemthing else when you play it, you will eventually stop and focus on this music.

I do and I dont have attention deficit in the least bit:chuckles:

The audio on this youtube vid does it no justice but meh, you catch the drift.

Im down with some Explosion in the Sky. They are a instrumental band from either Georgia or Texas, cant remember. But they are pretty fly!

Radiohead is the best Alternative band ever. Those who don't recognize should be banned from this thread

Agree. I saw Radiohead perform at Blossom last August and they blew my mind tearing into their set. When "Kid A" first came out I was like "WTF?", but it grew on me and hearing some of those songs live ("The National Anthem" gave me goosebumps) would turn any pair of blue jeans brown. Too far? Okay, bottom line is you haven't been to a concert if you haven't seen Radiohead perform (I have others I'd put in that category, but that's another discussion for another day). I still get the willies thinking about that night and looking behind me at the lawn section and hardly seeing a patch of grass. I've seen Dave Matthews at Blossom before, but that Radiohead show's attendance and liveliness was just electric. Now, start playing "Creep" again you jerks!

Take a look at their record catalogue, save for "Pablo Honey" every album has a unique sound and is hailed as either a classic or great album. There is no consistent act today that puts out such high quality material with such emotional poignant lyrics. And when their not blazing trails in their music their changing the record industry by giving their album away online. Genius through and through.

Also, good to hear Modest Mouse getting some love. Isaac Brock is a tortured genius songwriter and they really broke out with their "Good News for People Who Love Bad News" album. I felt they were stuck in Wilco's shadow for a while with the self-deprecating lyrics and sound, but glad they've busted out on their own. Also, another great show if I might add (June '07).

Since this thread includes Rock, I assume that Rock doesn't exclude Metal as subgenre.

Here's what I've been listening to the past 5 minutes:

By the way, I hope I'm not barging in on the discussion about Radiohead.

There's some pretty awesome post-rock bands out there, and EITS is definitely one of them.

Sigh... you can never go wrong with a little Modest Mouse in this house.

Ive seen em live twice, and they just dont wow live like they do in studio. Its teh multi tracking aspect that Isaac is know for.

Interesting to see what alll they come up with on this new disc without Johnny Marr

These guys released their debut earlier this year. I think it's a great record. Check it out!
