Ohio State game thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
YEAH! FUCK HIM AND HIS DEFENSE FOR GIVING UP 13 POINTS AND KEEPING THE TEAM IN THE GAME WHILE THE OFFENSE AND SPECIAL TEAMS SUCKED! GET HIM OUT OF HERE FOR BEING SO DEPLETED THAT HE HAS TO PLAY HIS FULLBACK AT LINEBACKER AND FUCK HIM FOR BEING THE CO-DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR. WHAT AN IDIOT!

zomgggzzz we held mighty fucking purdue to 13 points! That doesn't eradicate the rest of the miscues we've seen this season, like you know, making IU look like 2008 Oklahoma with Sam Bradford and allowing cal to come in average 55 yards a fucking carry or whatever it was. Their tackling is still dog shit and they bring absolutely no intensity until it really, really needs to happen. How doesn't he heavily contribute to the lack of discipline and lack of direction they have?

Right on man.

"we are not a good football team " - Urban Meyer

The Buckeyes havent given up 72 plays a game since 2004. 2003 since a team has averaged 40 or passing plays a game. Only one season did the buckeyes actually average 69 or more plays.

as far as the purdue game. The defense gave up 13 points and stopped drives late in the 4th quarter giving up zero point in the 4th and in OT.

this is a yung defense with more red shirt seniors than seniors. Granted we havent seen the defense play this poorly since 2004 but its quite acceptable for a team that only won 6 games last year

The offfense and special teams had a bad game and the buckeyes still managed to pull out the win. The team has a lot of work on both sides of the field for the upcoming ban bowl

The fact that our offense is going at a much faster tempo will mean more defensive snaps as well. So giving up more total yards or more yards per game, or even more plays per game shouldn't be a worry in itself.

what about the 7 years of discipline they have shown under Fickell.

Everett is the assistant head coach and co defensive coordinator. ultimate the responsibility lies with him since he has the higher rank.

His first unit - 2008 - ranked eighth in the country with 20 interceptions, a number that was just one off the UNC single season record.
His 2009 defense was among the nation's elite, ranking sixth in total defense, 10th against the run, 13th in scoring and 14th in pass defense.
His 2010 unit ranked fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference and 30th nationally. Five players off that unit were taken in the NFL draft, including first-round pick Robert Quinn.
And this past year the Tar Heels ranked 14th against the run.
I dont think the coaching staff is the problem. they just need to get things rolling

Fickells primary responsiblity on the defense is the linebacker core which went into the season extremely thin.

fickell does call the plays on the defense but it takes some time for a new defensive coaching staff to get on the same page.

giving up big plays is typically a result of gambling on the defensive end something Evertt is inclined to do.

Meyer is getting involved on the defensive end. as he should. if there is any glaring problems with the coaching. im more comfortable with meyer handling it.

What I don't get is why people are surprised by this. Ohio State was 6-7 last year. Suddenly they're 8-0 in a shit conference and scraping by opponents by a the hair on their nut sacks and people are expecting them to be Alabama North?

They aren't a good team. But they will be in a year or two, and probably a great team, under Meyer. That is not this year. If they go 12-0, it will be incredible, and it'll speak volumes about coaching too.

I mean when people are blaming games like that on Fickell for allowing 13 PTS...you have to wonder if they're just too focused on him as the problem to even consider anything else.

Ohio State and Oregon have agreed to a home and home series in 2020 and 2021

That is awesome. Our OOC is gonna be GOAT

the odds of Kelly still being at Oregon is in the getting struck by Lightning range.

The odds on Meyer being at tOSU are Probably roughly the same.

Long long ways off to even tell if the programs are anything better then above average.
