Ohio State game thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There's no question he did, but I won't talk shit about him either. Tressel bled scarlet and grey like the rest of us. Love the guy forever.

I don't think anyone was talking shit about him, it's just that he was a wimp when he had a two touchdown lead.

he took the foot off the gas habitually, lets not pretend he didnt

No. Dude was conservative more often that not, yes. However he did gamble. Sadly, for him, when he did gamble it was either the wrong time or he lost. I still have a ton of respect for the guy.

What an awesome week of college football. Bucks win big, but definitely have room to improve. We wont have to hear about boise state bullshit at the end of the year, and alabama goes full ain on michigan, effectively drowning them in their own tears.

That Devin Smith catch reminded me of this catch by Evan Spencer last season. Braxton Miller is very lucky that he is surrounded by guys that can make ridiculous catches like these.

Tress was a good coach but man his offense drove me fucking nuts

good. i didnt like tressel. beat your fucking opponent into submission, every game. try to score some points

Yea, Tressel sucked! I hated winning a national championship, winning 6 Big Ten championships, making 8 BCS bowl games, and going 9-1 against Michigan. Was a horrible decade for Ohio State football.

That being said, we are extremely lucky that Meyer was available because he is one of the select few coaches in the nation who can come in and possibly give us more success than Tressel did. However, I will always miss Tressel because not only was he a great coach but he was an even greater man who impacted people's lives in ways that go well beyond football.

My exact thoughts.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game yesterday; however, the consistent 3-man rush in the first half drove me fucking bonkers. I loved that Urb brought in some of the raw freshmen talent to get after the passer. Spence and Adolphus came in and brought immediate pass rush it seemed. Those guys are too good to keep on the sideline. I'm not saying they need to play every down because they would probably actually look like freshmen as every down players at the moment.

Also, Hyde ran hard, the receivers were catching well. I was actually surprised to see Boren drop a pass. Miller has an ungodly amount of talent but at times it's pretty obvious he has a ways to go as a passer. Devin Smith and Philly Brown will be a nice tandem to watch and I think Stoneburner will make a great safety valve for him - probably more than that.

Brad Roby's a fine corner, I expect him to turn it up a notch come conference play when we open up against Sparty.

Not a bad opener at all really, considering the rest of the B!G's struggles e.g, Iowa and Wisconsin sqeaking out their wins and I don't think I need to get into tSUN's issues.

Good shit, looking forward to a better opponent in UCF; although, I do think Miami OH's qb may be one of the best pure passers we see this season.

Rated 7th in some draft boards for all QB's in 2013 draft.

i scoured my post 5-10 times looking for a mention of calling him a bad coach, maybe i keep missing it.

dude was boring. and he deserves his credit, but lets not pretend tOSU doesnt pick from the cream of the crop in talent every single year and that the Big Ten hasn't exactly been a powerhouse in the last decade.

I'm still real worried about our pass D. many of our stops were due to their WR dropping balls. With that said, it was the first game of the season and the offense looks good.

Strength of OSU's defense is their front 4, and weakness looks to be the safeties (coverage of the LBs wasn't exactly stellar). A quick passing attack nullifies the front 4 and puts the safeties to work. If a team with BCS conference talent runs that type of offense, we'll be in trouble.

Good news is that neither Sparty, Wisky, Nebraska nor Michigan run that.

Purdue will give us fits.

I honestly think Miami might have a better attack than Purdue this year, so that works out.

I love Jim Tressel don't get me wrong but it was simply maddening watching some of the games that came down to a final play or a kick because we were up by 4 TD's and tried to milk the entire second half and let the other team back in. Lost some games we shouldn't have and made others far too close. Miss the guy but I'm excited about the Urban Meyer era.

It's crazy to think that Braxton's only a Soph, he's got so much more room to grow. In 2-3 years this team is going to be bashing B1G 10 schools by 30 points like it's nothing.

Yeah if Miller ever starts throwing a spiral, watch the fuck out.
