ANALYSIS
Strengths
Big and good looking on the hoof. Is a very fluid mover in space and has NFL-caliber play speed. Used in off coverage on slot receivers. Can click and close on throws in his vicinity and his ball skills are outstanding for the position. Has 25 passes defensed and 8 interceptions over the last two seasons. Has hips and closing speed to recover when beaten.

Weaknesses
Finesse safety who is a catch-and-drag tackler. Has had issues with missed tackles over the last three years. Inconsistent body control when asked to tackle in space. Takes suspect angles from high to low. Must improve at breaking down in space and centering his strike point. Eyes are slow to recognize and will bust coverage at times because of it. Allowed career-worst 9.1 yards per target.

NFL Comparison

Bottom Line
Drummond is a bag of mismatched parts. He has the ball skills and closing burst of a starting NFL free safety, but his instincts and tackling could scare teams away from viewing him as a single-high center fielder. He's not physical enough to play around the line of scrimmage, so his draft position will ultimately rest on how teams weigh his ball skills against his instincts.

@Bonnern and the Pittsburgh Steelers are up

Anybody who wants to draft for Denver when they're up can have them

Walter White wanted to make another pick, next time we need a sub, he should be able to tag in.

@blommen should pick in the next 45 minutes as he promised or else someone should draft for him. This ain't rocket science.

With the next pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select Nick O'Leary TE FSU. It's late so I'm not gonna go in depth here but the kid is an old-fashioned tight end that can block well and has good hands. Good fit with Steelers as they need depth here immediately and Heath Miller is getting up there in age.

The Washington Daniel "I Fail To See Hypocrisy" Snyders select:

D'Joun Smith, CB, Florida Atlantic
Height: 5-10. Weight: 187.
40 Time: 4.42.

Strengths

Plus athlete. Very good foot quickness and footwork in general. Can flip hips and get to top speed quickly. Highly productive junior campaign and has very good ball skills. Has good eyes and feel for the game. Turns and locates the ball downfield and has excellent hand-eye coordination. Competes hard and is a willing tackler. Will jump routes and try to flip the field.

Weaknesses

Level of competition isn't there. Shows tightness at the top of the route. Scouts believe he is a tick slow at the top of the route and will give up separation. More of an off-man corner who is still learning to play near line of scrimmage. Lacks long speed and could be targeted for double moves on next level. Technique as a tackler needs sharpening.

Sources Tell Us

"The word that comes to mind when I watch him on tape is 'spunky'. He competes hard and he wants to make plays, but his workout is going to be big for him because I'm not sure he has the top-end speed." -- NFC director of pro personnel

Why?!?!

Smith had a nice performance at the Combine. He previously had a respectable week at the Senior Bowl that impressed sources. He has the speed and athleticism to be a cover corner. Opponents didn't throw his direction much in 2014. I also like the fact he had a “head hunter” reputation in high school. This guy loves to lower the boom.

I do, but I can't do it if it isn't the Chiefs. I don't have enough of an emotional attachment or knowledge of what other teams need.

But you should have had a team from the start. You've been more active than like 90% of the people in this draft.

I knew I'd be out of town for four days of the start, that's why I wanted to wait and take over a team later.

BTW:

My last pick was so good I scared b00bie away from his next pick. He's like, "Keys got D'Joun Smith in the fucking fourth round?"

:vio (3):

I cannot wait to do the end of the mock draft analyst. This draft has seen some teams draft really well and others...poorly.

The Arizona Cardinals select:

Damien Swann - CB - UGA

I'm still puzzled how Vic Beasley dropped to me at 18. Every mock has him going like top 5. But drafting him threw off my entire game plan though.

Would be great. Whoever is the last one holding the "on the clock" designation should have to have an avatar of your choice for a month. @Randolphkeys :chuckle:

The Carolina Panthers are awarded Darius Philon, DT, 6'1⅜", 298, Arkansas.

Strengths
Outstanding burst and quickness off the snap. Penetrator with ability to make plays on the other side of the line if he wins early. Able to blow up zone plays with quickness. Plays with desired bend. Uses rip to establish advantage on edge and then plays with leverage to maintain his position through the play. High school defensive end who brings more advanced hand usage and pass-rush moves to the interior spot. Has athleticism to mirror and help contain quarterbacks thinking of bolting from pocket. Plus speed to the sideline in pursuit.
Weaknesses
Still growing into his body and needs more time to add bulk. Needs to hit the weights hard in order to handle down blocks and pure power when he gets squared up. Struggles to unhinge himself and get back into the play once he's snatched by guards with size. At times, gets caught on tape just riding out the snap when initial pass rush stalls. Lacks formidable bull rush. Lacks size and functional power to play in anything but 4-3.
Bottom Line
One-gap penetrator with serious juice off the snap. Philon could have used an additional year at Arkansas to add muscle and improve himself as a take-on defensive tackle, but teams will absolutely be intrigued by his combination of get-off and interior-pass-rush potential.

He is next up on the big board. MGMT hasn't been online here for almost 24 hours. Let's finish this thing.

Washington Redskins select Jake Ryan, LB, Michigan

11805441-large.jpg

6'2 240 pounds
4.6 40 yard dash

STRENGTHS: Good-sized frame for the position with adequate length. Terrific play speed with a motor that is always revving - high effort player. Finds the quickest route from A-to-B with excellent pursuit skills, seeing plays develop before it happens with read/react awareness. Anticipates well as a run defender to blow up run lanes and blocks, sacrificing himself for the greater good. Sets the edge and understands field leverage with NFL take-on strength to give blockers a handful at the point of attack. Processes information quickly with decisive movements to cover a large area. High football intelligence and an assignment sound player. Good timing as a blitzer, doing a nice job playing on the other side of the line of scrimmage. Top-shelf competitor and often has the dirtiest jersey on the field.
Highly confident and marches to the beat of his own drum. Strong football resume with 41 starts, 267 total tackles and 45.5 tackles for loss over his career - extensive special teams experience and versatility inside and outside.
Football bloodlines: father (WR, Wake Forest), grandfather (DT, Xavier), older brother (WR, Ball State) and younger brother (LB, Ball State).

WEAKNESSES: Tight hips and lacks the body fluidity to consistently hold up one-on-one in coverage. Not a twitchy player with limitations moving laterally. One-speed type and doesn't offer much burst. Needs to do a better job anticipating blocks to avoid bodies, work off contact and stay off the ground. Struggles to keep himself clean and work through the garbage. Inconsistent vision and lacks the make-up speed to compensate. Will overpursue angles at times and arrive too early, forcing some break down issues. Tore the ACL in his right knee that required surgery (March 2013), missing half of his junior season while working his way back from the injury.

Why?
Ranked second to Paul Dawson amongst linebackers in efficiency against the run. Can play OLB or ILB, which is perfect for the Redskins who now have Randy Gregory and Ryan Kerrigan at OLB but inconsistency at ILB. He times faster than standard inside linebackers who have been drafted for the past two rounds, giving him some ability to play on third down. Grew up in the correct city for playing football.

49ers on the clock.

Really getting to a point where I don't even recognize most of the player names.
