Opening Night Plans

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
6:30pm the doors open.

Going downtown with my dad at 3pm. Plan to hang out and soak in the atmosphere. Will definitely be at the Q by 6:30pm. Don't want to miss a second of war ups.

On the FlashSeats website for the event it says doors open at 6PM. Where'd you hear 6:30PM

Friend is a season ticket holder... 1.5 hours before cavs game is pretty typical for weekday night game, however, I could be wrong given the circumstances. Let me confirm and I'll edit my post if I'm wrong . Thanks for the info.

Edit - you are correct 6pm doors open for opener

Reading all of this makes me so unbelievably jealous...

So the concert outside starts at 7 apparently? It sounds like if you stay outside to watch the concert it will be a bit of a rush to get over to the Q and into your seats in time for tip.

I'll probably listen to a song or two and then get inside quickly. Anyone else?

The concert starts at 4. It'll probably last a few hours.

Did you read this somewhere? This article seems to say otherwise and is the only one that I can find about it:

Barkley coming to Times Square to tip off NBA season; Kendrick Lamar to perform in Cleveland

NEW YORK — Charles Barkley is coming to Times Square to tip off the NBA season.

Barkley, Kenny Smith, Shaquille O'Neal and Ernie Johnson will host live pregame, halftime and postgame shows from the New York landmark Oct. 28 when TNT airs a doubleheader on opening night.

Two days later, TNT will televise a live pregame concert from Cleveland featuring a performance by Kendrick Lamar before LeBron James makes his regular-season home debut in his return to the Cavaliers.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Musical artist Kendrick Lamar and comedian Kevin Hart will headline a fan fest Oct. 30, when the Cavaliers open the 2014-15 NBA season at The Q against the New York Knicks.

The fan fest will run from 4-11 p.m. at the Huron (Stark) Parking Lot directly outside The Q. The Cavaliers and Turner Sports are hosting the event. The game will be shown nationally on TNT.

Once the Cavs-Knicks game tips off at 8 p.m., the event will serve as a viewing party with the game featured on the video boards set up in the space.

The fan fest and viewing party are free.

Lamar's latest single "i" is featured in Turner Sports' promotional campaign and on NBA.com highlighting the start of the 2014-15 NBA regular season.

Since TNT plans to broadcast the concert live I imagine it would be going on somewhere between 7-8.

Where can I go downtown to be close enough to the atmosphere, but still be able to legitimately watch the game?

They aren't broadcasting live. They are taking the best stuff and compacting it into one hour to play between 7-8.

Thats what Im thinking too...the pregame show is to hype of the game not show a damn concert...they will only show the "I" song which is the theme song

Going up early to the casino and casino buffet, then heading over early to the Q.

I've got a friend who was an asst college coach for many years, then did D League (for Minn), now he is one of the advance scouts for the Hawks. His primary focus is Cleveland, with Detroit his secondary focus (if that scout can't cover a specific game) and Indy/Chi just in case.

So any near future opponents for the Hawks that happen to be playing in Cleveland... he scouts that opponent. He will be at the Cavs opener scouting the Knicks who play Atl early in the season. We'll catch up before the game and if he gets in early enough he'll join us at the casino/buffet.

All-in-all, should be freakin' amazing! Can't wait to see Love do a half-court chest pass/outlet pass to LBJ streaking up the sideline who grabs the pass, takes one dribble, and goes up for the uncontested slam. LeBron is da man for sure, but KLove is going to be HUGE for this team. I can't freakin' wait.
