OSU Recruiting Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know there will be some attrition in the defensive backfield (transfers). Another (Bogard) who is probably looking at calling it a career after injury.

At least one on the OL is in danger of not having his scholly renewed.

A few guys have given up their eligibility already.

Urban and his staff have the real numbers, but I've never been one to beat the drum about over-signing. There is a level of accountability players have to meet in order for their scholly to be renewed as well.
Plenty of OSU fans have beaten drum, including the guy who created oversigning.com.

If players have already told the staff they are moving on, then great. But the "we'll sign too many kids and hope a few current players fall off" line of thinking is sketchy and it is what SEC coaches were grilled for.

They were grilled, sure.

More out of jealousy than anything else, IMO.

The B1G coaches should take a page out of their book.

I have to believe that Stephen Collier is at least thinking about transferring. If JT Barrett isn't the starter next year, he's coming back the following year, and once he leaves Gibson will have sat for two years, and one would assume he would be ready to take over. If he stays, he's looking at going into his senior year having to fight for the starting job from a highly touted recruit who is entering his junior year and has had time to develop, and might even have to fight for the back up job with Burrow.

Stan Drayton has taken the RB coach job with the Chicago Bears. Reason I put this in the recruiting thread is because Drayton's relationship with Kareem Walker was a major reason for Walker committing to OSU. Could be a situation to monitor going forward.

Walker committed to Warriner and Meyer, not Stan Drayton.

Should be fine.

Mike Weber on the other hand, is not happy. But he signed, so....too bad for him I guess.

As much of an OSU honk as I claim to be, this is a bad look on Ohio State and Urban Meyer. It was nice to see the overwhelming support the alums of the team have for Weber, but he got hoodwinked. I just hope he didn't sour right then and there...

Not much chance of looking good in this scenario.

But it's a business.

Unfortunately, I feel like that business decision will affect Cass Tech's approach to the business. The Buckeyes have done well at Cass Tech in the past, I'm weary that we're seeing the end of it.

The most disappointing part of it all is how Buckeye fans are treating it.. Trying to brush it off as nothing abnormal. I just would rather see OSU address it with everyone involved, rather than allow the journalists spin. You know Clay Travis is going to lay the boom on Meyer for this; I wish Meyer would address this in a fashion more than just talking to Weber and answering some media questions.

I feel like we were likely to see an end to the poaching of Cass Tech guys once Harbaugh actually had a chance to recruit kids for a full year. It's a really bad look though. His coach and father were probably looking for any chance to put down OSU, and Meyer gave it right to them instead of being honest.

Not Clay Travis?! Hope Meyer can survive that embarrassment.

Cass Tech's coach (TTUN alumnus and avid Weber-should-stay-home supporter) just went on the radio and blasted OSU, which is his right to do. Probably not the best idea when you've got kids for the next three years who are already interested in Ohio State...but whatever.

This literally is nothing abnormal. There have been nearly a dozen coaching changes since Wednesday.

Drayton waited until after NSD to TAKE the interview, which was yesterday in Chicago. Both Meyer and Drayton have since spoken to Weber since then as well.

Media is going to do what they're going to do....but this is a non-story.
