OSU Recruiting Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Don't forget about Jerome Baker either. Consensus top 100 guy nationally and announces in a week.

Which is cool to see...I've known his cousin for a long, long time and played youth football with him. Jerome was our waterboy. Still can't believe that he is about to play at OSU.

Hopefully Torrance Gibson shows up for this visit this week. Could really make this class with Harris and a few others.

Ohio State University is my current leader! My list isn't changing anymore.

He's cooooooming.

Here's to (at least) another 4 years of playoff contention!

Junior DE Shane Simmons, a teammate of Ohio State commit Tyler Green, to announce commitment at 2 p.m.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State already has a verbal commitment from 2015 defensive back Tyler Green of Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic. The Buckeyes could add more from that program today at 2 p.m.

That's because elite 2016 defensive end Shane Simmons is announcing his college decision, and he'll choose from his top five that consists of Ohio State, Florida State, Alabama, Maryland and Penn State.

Though Simmons hasn't yet been rated by Rivals.com, he racked up nearly 30 scholarship offers despite not yet playing a down as an upperclassman. Other programs who have offered Simmons are Arizona State, Clemson, Georgia, Miami (Fla.), Nebraska, South Carolina, Texas A&M and others.

He'll announce his college decision live on ESPN.com, much like 2015 defensive end Jashon Cornell and linebacker Justin Hilliard, Ohio State commits, did in early July.

Florida State is generally considered the favorite to land Simmons, a 6-foot-2, 223-pounder whom Scout.com rates as a five-star prospect.

Check back with cleveland.com this afternoon for Simmons' decision.

Hopefully his teammate has been pulling for him

EDIT: PENN STATE

I'm completely sold. I'm giddy as hell about this kid. He's gonna be special.

Pretty much a longshot that commitment sticks.

At his announcement, he even put it:

"As of now, I'm committing to OleMiss"

:chuckle:

Another example of Ed Warriner needing to strengthen his relationship with a prospect. He's a fantastic coach but lacks the recruiting acumen of others on staff. It's been an issue the last few years and is shaping up to be an issue in next year's class as well.

Maybe, I have absolutely no context of what their relationship is like and I'm 1000 percent sure he wasn't the one recruiting Richmond.

This seems to be more indicative of someone leading Richmond to OleMiss as a byproduct of someone in his camp getting money.

When you announce at your commitment announcement that you'll always be a Buckeye at heart and yada yada yada, it's probably not hard to do the math.
