Playoff Positioning

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Something is telling me we would lose tomorrow, but the more i think about it. I dont see us losing, Noah is not 100% yet, rose is very inconsistent and butler is injured. If the cavs come out with intensity and put the pressure early we will be victorious.

Anything can happen in 1 game obviously, but I really think we matchup well against the Bulls. We can neutralize Gasol pretty easily, we can force Rose to shoot jumpers all game(thanks to Mozgov on both of these points). Offensively,we can literally attack them from every spot on the court and they have a few defensive weaknesses they normally try and hide with using Noah at Butlers' versatility, but since our entire starting 5 can play offense, we can easily break apart their defense.

I just envision Mozzy making Pau his bitch tomorrow. And the Bulls have never had an answer for Lebron.

I like the matchups against CHI as well.

Noah is not a scoring threat so you can hide Love on him, and Mozgov can neutralize Gasol. Taj Gibson used to be the one guy who scared me but he has struggled with injuries this year and Tristan can match his energy.

I think we are clearly better on the wings.

And defensively we might be better than the Bulls as well post-trades.

Lmao i was just thinking that, pau is too soft for mozzy, the reason why the bulls matched up with us was cause of the front court, but with the addition of mozzy we definitely have the edge.

Agree, and rose is just not the same player anymore, he doesnt like to drive like he used to and with irvings d in which he brings it against top pg rose has to be on his A+++ game in order for us to lose tomorrow. Various things has to happen.

1. Moz has to be in foul trouble early.
2.lebron goes super cold plus iso and turns the ball over more than 5 times.
3.rose wins the pg matchup vs irving
4.kirk goes bezerk agaisnt us which history is not on our side
5.blatt gives delly too many min

If this is Kirk Hinrich, he is already out for the game.

A win tonight should put us into the 3 seed right?

Big game. It's too bad the Wiz didn't win last night imo, the Raptors are playing a lot better than the Wiz are, so the chances of them falling below us organically is higher.

We match up with the Bulls well, but if Love doesn't play, it makes things a little harder.

Big game tonight. With a win, the Cavs take the division lead and the third seed outright heading into the All-Star break, as well as guaranteeing a tie breaker over Chicago by winning the season series. They'll also head into a February 20th matchup in Washington with a three game winning streak and a chance to further extend their lead in the conference standings, as well as take a lead in a potential tiebreaker with the Wizards by virtue of head to head record. With a loss, they slip down to the fifth seed.

I'm looking for a statement win against the Bulls. I know they'll be hungry, looking for blood since we've owned them this year. But a win will likely put us into the third seed going into the all-star break with a ton of momentum. It's not the end of the world if we lose, but it is a BIG GAME that I really hope we win, and I think our players will be hyped for it as well.

It was rough, especially since it was a crucial positioning game much like TOR/WASH, but it was highly unlikely we were going to sweep them this regular season anyway.

Well, we won 14 of 16. Both losses were away games, on the second night of a back-to-back. With a little more effort, we probably win all 16. Do we ALWAYS have to suck on the second night of a back-to-back? Not sure. I don't know how it feels to play a game in Indianapolis or Chicago <24 hours after finishing a game in Cleveland.

In any case, we are 33-22, with 27 games to play. How many will we have to win, to get the second seed? At the halfway point, I/other people said we had to win at least 30 of the next 41 to get home-court in the first round. We have so far won 12 of 14. We should easily win 2/3 of our remaining games. We can do BETTER than that. I imagine 52 wins gets us the 4 seed, 54 wins gets us the 3, and 55/56 gets us the 2. They can DO it. They just have to WANT to.

Original post has been updated.

Despite the loss last night, the Cavs are still in good shape. They've won 14 of 16 and they can still take the season series from the Bulls when they meet up in April at the Q.

Their remaining schedule for the month of February:

Feb 20, @ Washington, 8:00 PM (ESPN)
Feb 22, @ New York, 1:00 PM
Feb 24, @ Detroit, 7:30 PM
Feb 26, vs Golden State, 8:00 PM (TNT)
Feb 27, @ Indiana, 7:00 PM

Gonna be a tough stretch for the rest of this month and throughout the month of March. Three game road trip, followed by a back to back against the best team in the West and at the same arena they just had their winning streak snapped in.
