Original post has been updated. One game out of the division lead/3rd seed, two and a half back of the second seed.

Big night tonight, would definitely bode well for the Cavs to beat the Pistons in Detroit. They could possibly make up ground if Toronto loses in Dallas tonight, and they could also create more space between themselves and the Wizards if they lose at home to Golden State.

Well, we won 14 of 16. Both losses were away games, on the second night of a back-to-back. With a little more effort, we probably win all 16. Do we ALWAYS have to suck on the second night of a back-to-back? Not sure. I don't know how it feels to play a game in Indianapolis or Chicago <24 hours after finishing a game in Cleveland.

On the plus side, there are no back to backs in the playoffs.

Only 2 games out of 2nd... It's not how you start boys.

Same knee he tore something last year too, fyi.

Woah. That is terrible for Rose. Feel bad for the dude. not for the Bulls though. You would think it will be great for us in terms of playoff seeding. But who knows. Remember how the Bulls did last year after trading Deng and not having Rose....

On a personal level though, this is great news for my fantasy team, as Jimmy Butler is going to go back to his early season 20 shots per game routine!

Sucks but can't say we didn't know it was going to happen eventually

Bulls are used to compensating for him against 'regular' teams.. so I don't expect much of a drop off in the short term. But, IMO, it does eliminate them from any real threat come playoff time. I feel bad for Rose persoanlly, but not the Bulls.

Agreed They can not advance to the finals without Rose at all. Similar to last year, they could maintain or even improve upon their current pace, but in the playoffs they will be bounced quickly by any of the other top Eastern teams.

It might all be moot. It's getting close to the point where the Cavs just look like locks to at least make it to the finals regardless of what happens on any other Eastern Conference team.

Feel really bad for Rose. This might be it.

What's interesting is that the Bulls were considerably better this year with Brooks on court rather than Rose.

The Bulls were .2 points point per 100 possessions better with Rose on court than off.
The Bulls are 4.6 points per 100 possessions better with Brooks on court than off.

The Bulls offense is 6.1 points per 100 possessions better with Brooks on court. The Bulls offense is .2 points per 100 possessions worse with Rose on court.

The thing is, however, that there's no more specter of Rose playing like Rose for an entire series which everyone thought was the Bulls's x-factor other than Butler's surprising meteoric offensive rise. They're just not threatening anymore.

Damn, just out of the Eastern playoff contenders, Paul George, Derrick Rose, Chris Bosh, and Jabari Parker all suffered season ending injuries. I want them all healthy so that we can see what a fully healthy Eastern Conference looks like (could be very good from seeds 1 to 8 if Indiana and Miami were healthy and in those last 2 seeds) and so that the Cavs could beat each team they face at their full strength and prove their worth.
