There's always next year.........HA.It was a good run...a lot to be excited about for 2015.
The season was hanging in the balance in a must win game.. and we see Chris Gimenez start and J.B Shuck get a pinch hit appearance in the 9th.
I love Tito, but his allegiances are maddening at times.
Why is Chris Giminez even on the goddamn roster
He was added as insurance when Gomes had concussion issues. That was easy. Just don't ask me why he's playing now.
Santana has a leg issue, Swisher is out for the year. Who else should have played? Jesus Aguilar, owner of a .150 avg, or Zach Walters, owner of a .150 avg? Terry isnt' exactly swimming in options at 1B at the moment.
Would much rather have seen 1 of those 2 young guys play over a 31 year old journeyman catcher hitting .210 in his career. And at least Walters is a threat to go deep.
I love Tito, but his allegiances to his below avg veterans (and j.b shuck) are frustrating at times.
But whether you want to see them is irregardless- Tito's options for a playoff chase game were a vet hitting .245 or two rookie hitting .150. Neither is much of a threat to hit a HR, let alone get a single hit, when they are hitting .150 and have looked overmatched. Simple as that. If the Tribe had simply sucked the last month instead of making a run, then both would probably be in there. But that isn't the case.
And this assumption that he has allegiences to vets when he is running Ramirez and Holt out there on a regular basis are just plain silly. Neither guy you want to see are hitting and should not have been in there.
Uh, you may want to look at what Walers has been doing- the last time he hit one of those big HRs was in August. Since then, he is hitting .100 wtih a .282 OPS. .282 OPS means he isn't taking advantages of mistakes. The book is out on him, pitchers are staying away from what he had been jacking, and he is completely off the rails right now. If these games had no importance, then of course you run him out there and let him try and figure it out. But yesterday was not that game, unless you think a good managerial strategy is putting guys with a .282 OPS out there and hoping they 'run into one.'
And again, I don't see why Tito not having an option means he doesn't trust the rookies. This is just grasping at straws to try and prove a point.
