Playoff Watch 2015

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It was a good run...a lot to be excited about for 2015.

The season was hanging in the balance in a must win game.. and we see Chris Gimenez start and J.B Shuck get a pinch hit appearance in the 9th.

I love Tito, but his allegiances are maddening at times.

I hope Shuck gets his eye sight back. Thoughts to him and his family.

The Gimenez start was a curious one. I'd genuinely like to hear Tito's reasoning. As for Shuck, it sucked but I guess I'd ask who else? Maybe Giambi?

He was added as insurance when Gomes had concussion issues. That was easy. Just don't ask me why he's playing now. :chuckle:

Santana has a leg issue, Swisher is out for the year. Who else should have played? Jesus Aguilar, owner of a .150 avg, or Zach Walters, owner of a .150 avg? Terry isnt' exactly swimming in options at 1B at the moment.

Would much rather have seen 1 of those 2 young guys play over a 31 year old journeyman catcher hitting .210 in his career. And at least Walters is a threat to go deep.

I love Tito, but his allegiances to his below avg veterans (and j.b shuck) are frustrating at times.

The Royals haven't been to the playoffs since 85. Just let them have this. I'm not a huge baseball fan but I've been to a few Royals games. Kansas needs something.

But whether you want to see them is irregardless- Tito's options for a playoff chase game were a vet hitting .245 or two rookie hitting .150. Neither is much of a threat to hit a HR, let alone get a single hit, when they are hitting .150 and have looked overmatched. Simple as that. If the Tribe had simply sucked the last month instead of making a run, then both would probably be in there. But that isn't the case.

And this assumption that he has allegiences to vets when he is running Ramirez and Holt out there on a regular basis are just plain silly. Neither guy you want to see are hitting and should not have been in there.

Um, Walters has hit quite a few big HR in his limited playing time, despite being overmatched. Certainly would've been a better option than Chris Gimenez. I don't care how you slice it. At least Walters has a chance to take advantage of a mistake & has proven that this season with some big hits, despite his BA..

Well, he doesn't really have much of a choice regarding Ramirez. 1.) He has looked damn good and 2) His other options are limited. And you're right, I forgot about the almighty Tyler Holt :chuckle: (who only plays vs LHP, by the way)

Tough to argue with any of these:

(Kipnis didn't start, he doesn't think JRam is a starter on a contender)

The only surprising thing was that we didn't get this:

Uh, you may want to look at what Walers has been doing- the last time he hit one of those big HRs was in August. Since then, he is hitting .100 wtih a .282 OPS. .282 OPS means he isn't taking advantages of mistakes. The book is out on him, pitchers are staying away from what he had been jacking, and he is completely off the rails right now. If these games had no importance, then of course you run him out there and let him try and figure it out. But yesterday was not that game, unless you think a good managerial strategy is putting guys with a .282 OPS out there and hoping they 'run into one.'

And again, I don't see why Tito not having an option means he doesn't trust the rookies. This is just grasping at straws to try and prove a point.

OK, and again, what has Chris Gimenez done to warrant him playing over Walters?

I always check the stats: Gimenez is 6 for his last 45 (.133) with 0 XBH & 2 RBI.

Call me crazy, but I'd much rather have the HR threat in the lineup, especially considering our offense couldn't hit AA pitching at this point.

I'll even give you Ramirez, cause frankly it's surprised me he's stuck with him with his boy Aviles on the roster, but how exactly can you not see that Tito loves his vets? I'm not even saying that he doesn't trust the rookies, just that he loves his vets..

You brought up Holt, but he got all his playing time when Murphy (out 8/9-9/5) and Raburn (out 8/19-9/2) were out.

He's started all of 3 games since Murphy came off the DL, 2 of which have come since Raburn's season ended.. How exactly is that "trotting him out everyday"? He did that only when he had no choice, when Murphy & Raburn were both out.
