post 121 - OJ Mayo UFA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think I'd rather just pursue Harden somehow than Mayo in the offseason.

Harden won't be free till 2013, Wuts wrg wit mayo tho????

The fact that Memphis seems to be asking for a 1st round pick for him, an asset that would be ridiculous for a lottery team like us to relinquish.

lets give them both Miami's and Sacramento's first plus Casspi or Gibson and see if they take it

That makes no sense. 2 firsts and a serviceable player for Mayo? I can see a Miami 1st for him since he's better than most late 1st round talent players.

Welcome to RCF, jmoney! You'll find it a great place to chill and talk sports, politics, or about whatever the fuck.. But, the one thing we ask as posters is that we try to refrain from "text-typing," i.e. over-abbreviation and mangling of words; i.e. "wuts" "wrg" "wit" ... "tho."

It's difficult to read for those of us who never read or write like that. So please be considerate of your fellow posters. Oh, and grammar never hurts too. It can be difficult to conceptualize an idea contained within a jumbled run-on sentence.

And trust me, I'm not being uptight. I think I speak for the vast majority when I say disregarding these two basic tenets is annoying as fuck to everyone.

Again, welcome to the forums pimp...

Dunno.. I'd do this.. Miami's first will be 25-30, but most likely near 30. Sac's pick we may not see for years. There is no guarantee what Sac's pick will return even when we have a chance at acquiring it. OJ Mayo is a known commodity, he's young enough for the rebuild, and when put in the right position he could have a breakout year.

Now that I think about it, I'd definitely make that trade.

It isn't two firsts that he is suggesting. It is THREE. Reread his post. He wants to include BOTH Miami firsts. I would never ever do this trade.

4. Memphis Grizzlies trade O.J. Mayo to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Daniel Gibson and Omri Casspi

Mayo is playing well off the bench for the Grizzlies, but the club essentially has been trying to move him for nearly two years. With his qualifying offer for next season at a hefty $7.4 million, Memphis isn't sure what it wants to do with him. Making this trade would save them a headache. Gibson gives them the 3-point shooting Mayo has provided, and then some -- Mayo is a career 38 percent shooter from behind the arc, while Gibson has shot 42 percent. He also is poised, playoff-tested and cheaper than Mayo. Casspi is young, long and fairly athletic. He'd add to their depth off the bench.

While Mayo has been a good soldier as a sixth man, his competitive juices have to be telling him he's a starter. Remember, he averaged 18 points per game during his first two seasons. Cleveland is set at the point guard position for years to come with Kyrie Irving, and putting a shooter like Mayo beside him would give the Cavs a strong backcourt for the foreseeable future. They'd be set at the guard spots and free to concentrate on improving their front line.

....source is chris broussard's "5 trade scenarios that would make sense for both teams" insider article that came out recently. What do yall think? I'd miss boobie but it seems kinda fair.

He stays the season. He is worth more to a playoff run than a pick could give them. I could see him being moved on draft night if possible.

Mayo couldn't be dealt on draft night. He will have an option / qualifying offer. This will preclude him from being dealt

lets give them both Miami's and Sacramento's first plus Casspi or Gibson and see if they take it

So you want to give them the 2 best remaining assets we have from the LeBron trade AND the return we got on Hickson for OJ Mayo?

OK......

Gordon plays defense. Mayo can play defense but doesnt. If the cavs are dumping assets in acquiring a shooting guard it should be gordon and not mayo.
