Predictions One week Out for 12, 19 and 43

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
assuming no trades....

12. Malcom Brown (DT) Texas
19. Breshad Perriman (WR) Central Florida
43. Shaq Thompson (LB) Washington

12 & 19: Traded as part of a package with a future pick to move up for Marcus Mariota.
43: Nelson Agholor

I can see that but hopefully we wouldn't take Agholor. I would really like a WR that can truly play the outside in the NFL. Would rather have a guy like Parker, Strong, Perriman, DGB. But will they be there at 43? Easily the 1st 3 wont.

Shit, would rather even have Devin Smith over Agholor.

Honestly, I don't see the Browns truly going all in for Mariota. If they can get away with giving 12 and some combination of later picks this year and a relatively high pick next year, maybe they pull the trigger. However; I would be surprised if they used both 12 and 19 in a package for Mariota.

Now I can see them using 12 or 19 but not both in acquiring a current starting QB like Bradford, Rivers or someone else. It all depends on what Tennessee wants in return for the #2 pick. I'm not sure the Browns have any control over that process, it's really in the Titan's hands how that goes down.

I think the more likely scenario is they stay at 12 and select either Parker or Shelton, whoever is on the board. At 19, if one of the premier pass rushers (Dupree, Ray, Beasley) are there I think they pull the trigger. I think they stay away from Randy Gregory. If not, they very well could trade down a few slots and pick up either an Eddie Goldman if they took Parker at 12 or a Perriman/Strong/Devin Smith if they took Shelton at 12.

12. Danny Shelton
19. Todd Gurley
43. Devin Smith

I have no idea if I would be pissed or happy with that. Shelton at 12 I like. Smith at 43 I can handle. Gurley has a chance to be a fuckin hoss like Peterson/Lynch, but how has he come off of his ACL?

In fact, NFL Media's Albert Breer is toldby sources from five NFL clubs that Gurley has a "great shot" to play in the first game of the 2015 season. According to Breer, results of Gurley's exam suggest that he'll be ready to playat some point during training camp.

I like our 2-headed monster in the backfield right now and I don't think we should take Gurley. But I wouldn't be totally pissed.

The closer we get, the more I just have the feeling that the front-7/trenches on both sides are addressed... I also have a feeling that the Browns do like Malcom Brown, even though they haven't paid much attention to him in the visits/workouts department.

Edit: I'm changing my choices. I still don't think they make all 3 picks at these spots.

12) Danny Shelton
19) Cam Erving
43) Shaq Thompson

That's not the first time I've seen Shaq Thompson mocked to the Browns, I don't get that one at all. Where does he even play here? Dansby and Robertson are already on the field for the majority of snaps at inside linebacker, and Thompson would get swallowed alive if he played outside as an edge rusher. IMO he's got a better chance at being turned into a massive in-the-box safety rather than playing OLB in a 3-4.

I can see:

12. Parker
19. Goldman
43. Petty

Because we have that mock draft going and he ended up a Brown, I've been trying to figure it out as well. 72 hours later, I think Shaq plays fullback on offense 1st and 2nd down, linebacker in the defensive nickel packages, and he is therefore a 5th round pick. 219 pound linebacker? Are we playing Lake Catholic?

I'd take all of them over Agholor too but I think every single one of them will be gone. If not, it makes the decision easier.

No one ever gained any weight right? :chuckle:

He could be a stretch for us in the 2nd. I just want another Shaq on a Cleveland team.

I like Shaq as a nickel coverage linebacker, on passing downs he would be elite in coverage and blitz packages with a third corner back in to cover a slot receiver. The problem, which CosmoKramer nailed, is that he has no place in a standard 3-4. He should be a Will linebacker in the 4-3.

It would be fun to what he can do as a fullback in DeFilippo's offense, I will give pause to that idea.

As a proud Lake Catholic alum, I loved this post. Very true.

I keep having this weird feeling Melvin Gordon is going to be a Brown.

1) He supposedly had a great visit.
2) Has a bit of that WTF type feel the Browns always give us.
3) West wasn't on Gilbert/Manziel level as far as immaturity goes but he had some issues with Pettine and playing time I think. Could see him flipped.
4) Cold weather, high character player.
5) When I think about the player on stage putting on a Browns hat, I just keep seeing Melvin Gordon.

Not advocating it. Just a feeling.

Drafting a running back in the first round...again.

Sounds about right, unfortunately.
