Progressive Field Renovations Planned Over 2 Years

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Meh. MLB attendance is at an all time high. That is even with teams like the Marlins, Rays and Indians bringing in such low numbers. Even these low numbers are higher than attendance figures from the 80s and 70s. Less games will not lead to higher attendance, not to mention it pretty much cements every a cumulative season stat record on the books. The numbers simply do not back up reducing the number of games. The only valid reasoning for less regular season games would be post season expansion. Just cant justify cutting out revenue for 11 other teams because 3 play 3-21 more games. If half the teams made the playoffs then maybe. But then that makes one of the few relevant sports regular seasons meaningless. I say no.

I think the most logical target is what they are aiming for- reduce game times. If games can be trimmed down then all the better. I think MLB needs to get draconian- 1 minute from call to first pitch for relievers. If pitcher gets hurt, onus is on manager who called in a pitcher who wasn't ready.

And I've already said it when it comes to Cleveland- want the fans back? Reintroduce steroids. They fueled the bloated offense of the 90s that entranced this city and that is ultimately what is needed now. This city's casual fans gave two shits about the 3 Cy Young winners- they came for the homers. Bring back the juice, bring back the offense, bring back the Cleveland fans. Lets just be honest.

I agree, one of things I love about basketball is it is around 2 hours and does not consume the whole night. The Indians is takes all of 3 hours. If thery could get the game down to 2 to 230 would help a ton.

Isn't it a two-year renovation?

So here is a view inside one of the "boxes."

Gotta love the cheap aluminum siding! Just gorgeous.

I guess I'm confused... So they just completely deviated from the color scheme, glass partitions, cohesive/fluid structure (as opposed to separate boxes) and overall design of the mockup and just thought we wouldn't notice?

Side note: My buddy lives downtown and walked past the stadium today and said that one of the project managers was asking feedback from some of the pedestrians. He said he seemed "nervous" and essentially all of the feedback was "It looks like shit."

Just paint the boxes...its looks bad because they stick out like a sore thumb compared to the surrounding color scheme of the stadium.

Maybe they are waiting for a better streak of weather to paint them, or maybe the "2 year renovation" means they paint them next year haha.

Got some pics and vids sent to me from my friend with the Indians today, actually came away really impressed with the Corner Bar.

They've added some additional signage to the HOF numbers at the highest level and that makes it look a little better.

Not allowed to post them, but they've also made some changes to the standing room only area as well (adding some stand up tables).

Looking forward to seeing it live.

Wait, so that's actually the look they went with and not just some temporary construction until the reno is completed?

It looks like they forgot to get the materials in time and a few days before it had to be completed they just said "fuck it dude, let's just go to Home Depot and get some shit."

I think painting the middle section green will make it look waaaaaaaaaaay better.

Not sure what people were expecting with the decks themselves. I guess they could've done a railing or something that looked nicer, but then you'd have beer leaking down walls and stuff that would've looked nasty.

I think a nice brick would have looked nice. Could have also done a stucco that would look a ton better. I am hoping this is just part 1 and it gets better next year.

Anything major you've seen that is missing in the pics that have circulated on Twitter? People are KILLING them.

A lot of the white space/drywall looking aspect has been covered up with some signage.

I took a peak last night before and after the Cavs game and can confirm that it looks pretty much exactly like the pictures being posted. That beige color really stands out in a bad way, and I highly doubt they plan on painting it since they already have the pennants attached to them. Also pretty clear it's not being painted blue since there is blue text on several of those walls and a lot of the signs are also outlined in blue.

Also, is something supposed to go inside those boxes or is that just for people to stand? I guess I don't get it if that is anything close to a finished product.

Reminds me of a beautiful chick getting an absolutely terrible tattoo and ruining what made her look so great to begin with. If that's the case I'd rather stare at a bunch of empty green seats.

Am I judging this too early? I sure hope so.

I'm confused did they deviate from the plan or is it just not finished?
