the kids are all right 7.5/10
nice twist on a typical family drama and it really delivered. loved the stars - esp ruffalo and moore (also god is she sexy for 50+). the ending was a bit of a letdown, but still a worthwhile watch overall

I agree that the ending ended the way that it did. There was so much potential there. Anytime there's a movie that Mark Ruffalo is a lead, it's pretty good. He is extremely likable.

Ender's Game - 5/10

There were a load of great actors and fine acting. They just didn't capture many of the key elements that made the book great. Even at close to 2 hours, it felt rushed. Especially the ending. Poor job by the director working with a really great story.

I figured exactly this would happen, as they would want to market it to a larger, younger audience, and Ender is not your traditional hero - if you can even call him a hero.

Saw Parkland last night (1/10). Rubbish, and total propaganda piece. You'd think the movie was made by the CIA. Anyone who has researched the Kennedy assassination shouldn't watch this movie, as it's clearly not factual.

I don't know what the point is of making a movie like this if not to shore up this idea that Oswald was the lone gunman, with no outside help. Tons of relevant, factual information has been scrubbed - and there are many scenes in the movie that just didn't happen in real life. The events that did happen, are far more engaging, but the only reason you wouldn't put those scenes in, is because it forces the audience to question the government's account.

Everything else in the movie takes a huge backseat to this point. You wonder, why are they moving the story in this direction? And then when you piece it together, you realize the totality of the movie is just another psyop against the American people.

we're the millers - 7/10, maybe 7.5

went in with really low expectations but it ended up being hilarious. not a masterpiece obv, but still a really solid comedy and a nice turn-your-brain-off type of movie. sudeikis was good, but the son was probably my favorite (also, super jealous about getting to repeatedly make out with jennifer aniston and emma roberts! haha).

edit: and stay for the outtakes at the end, the last one was so good

dude that movie sucked ass.

Bad Grandpa was good. Especially the pageant scene

Enders Game.

It was fine.

Never read the book so I knew nothing of the story. Felt rushed, and some of the acting was weak early on. But I enjoyed it. Semi interesting commentary on drone warfare.

Enjoyed it enough not to regret it. Might watch it again on Netflix one day. Decent movie for a cheap matinee. I've seen worse.

Captain Phillips - Very average.

Shaky camera, Tom Hanks enormous Nipples and lenght of the movie makes this movie hard to watch. I dont know what all the hype is - the acting was the only positive I could see; oh and the fact that there are no other good movies in theater.

Crash.. 1 / 10..

Fuck this movie sucked.... Can't believe so many people this this is some modern cinematic dialogue on race in America. Movie is a complete joke.

Saw the 'to do list' as far as sexcomedies it excels for a few things:

set in the early 90's so i can relate
solid ensemble cast
just enough embarrassing moments without looking like its trying too hard.

overall 7/10

Finally watched Gatsby:

Notes:

-The visuals were incredible. The colors, the filters, choreography, etc. Over the top in a good way. Magical is probably a good word

-Dicaprio was a good Gatsby. Gatsby in general was covered well and developed nicely

-Carraway was wasted. Not much was done with Tobey Maguire and as usual...I just felt like he wasn't that good of an actor. When I think of Nick Carraway, I think of someone a bit more...subtle, but deeper.

-Daisy was far more likeable than in the book. She was not described as being irresponsible and reckless, but she really wasn't portrayed that way during the movie itself

-Could have used more interaction between Carraway and Jordan Baker

- Not enough treatment of the East Egg (or whichever egg was the poor one. More could have been done with the symbolic differences between the two Eggs.

-Tom Buchanan was fucking perfect and to me, the most entertaining character to watch. Looked perfect for the part, talked perfect, etc.

7.5 out of 10 mostly based on the incredible scenery, Tom Buchanan's development and Leo's portrayal of Gatsby. I dock points for what I usually consider unfair reasons, because I visualized different characters than were portrayed in the movie. I would have liked more depth to Nick and Daisy's development. Wished Daisy was more irresponsible and more flawed.

Saw Bad Grandpa.

Funny as hell. Never laughed so hard. Some of the scenes were filmed In Cleveland and chagrin falls.

Gravity in 3D was a pretty good movie in my eyes. 7.8/10
