This looks amazing, I really like the new spidey costume. I don't know how I feel about Rhino being a mech, Electro looks ok.

Like the villains, but damn -- how many times do we need to see the Green Goblin? This will be the 3rd of 4 movies having him as the primary antagonist. I mean c'mon, this isn't the Fantastic Four where it's Reed vs Doom - it's Spider-Man, he's got tons of great villains.

If you want to incorporate Osborne, then use the Hob-Goblin to start off, that'd be much better than his same tired arc that we've seen so many times. It's just a rip-off to keep paying to see this. Or, since this is a darker version of Spider-Man, bring back Venom and this time, do it correctly.

I agree with using Hob Goblin. My goodness I almost forgot the Venom played by Topher Grace, it missed the mark by a mile and Venom just deserves better. If you noticed Doc Oc's tentacles and the Vulture's wings were shown in the background, I think they are setting up the Sinister 6 as the main villains in the 3rd movie. I'm definitely intrigued with how they'll portrait Kraven and Mysterio who IMO are difficult characters to build buzz and excitement around in a movie setting.

what did you think of it, i started it a couple times and could never get thouh it. the damn camera drove me nuts the entire time I watched it.

I really enjoyed it. The camera thing never bothered me though.

I agree. There are plenty of Spider-Man villains to go around, and if they're going to continue to mine from the Ultimate Spider-Man universe most of them are actually pretty good. I enjoyed the first Amazing Spider-Man quite a bit, and I think it hit the mark better than Raimi's films (of which the first two movies were pretty good) ever did. So I have high hopes for the sequel.

I'd love to see Venom done right, and I'd also like to see a Spider-Man film tackle Carnage at some point. What I always wondered was why Raimi didn't totally rip off the Venom plot from the nineties Spider-Man cartoon. It was done really well and managed to integrate Venom intelligently by having Jameson's son find a rock containing the symbiote during a space mission, and then having Spider-Man have to subsequently rescue him when their ship crashes to Earth, which exposes him to it. It would have been perfect for a blockbuster.

I agree, Venom is the Spider-Man's modern-day archenemy, not the Green Goblin. I also liked the story in the cartoon, as it appeared to be a good plausible way of getting Spidey the symbiote without the Secret Wars.

It's just a shame that so many of the individuals making comic book and sci-fi movies aren't actually fans of the material.

Yeah the Secret Wars could have been a little complex to fit into a two hour movie.

I'd really love them to get into Carnage. Why not just skip/delay the whole Oscorp thing until much later, and do a movie on Venom then another on Carnage first? I think that's much more in line with what people wanna see.

I think the reason they don't do Carnage, who would be perfect for a movie IMHO, is that he is a very dark character. You're not going to be able to advertise this movie for kids with Carnage in it.. Even though every one of us remembers Carnage from our childhood - things have changed.

If they did him in a very dark way, i.e. Nolan's Joker, with massive amounts of killings (think your average Blade or Underworld movie), it would be regarded as the best Spider-Man to date. But it'd also likely be rated R. World War Z barely got away with the killings because there was no blood in the movie; which I'm fine with if it means the movie can get made to begin with. It's just hard to envision Carnage in a PG-13 movie, unless again, the studio pulls some strings.

True. Now that I'm older, this PG-ification of all these superheroes is annoying to me. This may just be my personal preference, but I think Batman would be a more interesting character if he was much closer to crazy, killed some criminals, and made people wonder "is he really any better than the criminals he's fighting?" It would be an interesting character study if nothing else, but that's not going to happen because there's no way parents would let their kids read/watch that material.

In regards to Carnage, he would also be the coolest from a visual/action perspective since there's so much he can do with his powers. It's a shame that they have to cater to the size of the potential audience instead of making the best possible movie, but oh well that's Hollywood for ya.

This is exactly where Alan Moore took Batman in the late 80's early 90's, and it's how I remember re-familiarizing myself with Batman (as opposed to the 1960's Batman that was very much like Adam West's portrayal). Batman should be a dark, brooding character who is just as insane as the people in Arkham Asylum.

In fact, the 1990's Batman: The Animated Series, which is probably the best iteration of Batman to date, in any format, based Batman around Moore's vision and referenced this fact numerous times. Throughout the series, the question is repeatedly asked, what's the difference between this vigilante in a mask breaking the law (as Bullock would say) and the other criminals in masks breaking the law?? Almost nothing...

In regards to Carnage, he would also be the coolest from a visual/action perspective since there's so much he can do with his powers. It's a shame that they have to cater to the size of the potential audience instead of making the best possible movie, but oh well that's Hollywood for ya.

Big time. Carnage would look amazing on the screen as his powers lend themselves to CGI far more so than someone like the Lizard or Doc Ock.

But with Venom not being set up in this second movie, it's unlikely we'll see Carnage until at least the 4th iteration.

Just saw Brian singer tweeted that the next men movie is scheduled for 2016 and will use the apocalypse story arches. That and days of future past are some of my favourite

Can we just rename this comic book nerds talk about comic book movies thread?

No way dude, Spider-Man could totally beat up batman

My inner child/dork is flipping out after watching this. I lived for those monster movie Saturdays on the WUAB as a kid
