Finally saw We're The Millers.

A bit overrated, but it was still a pretty funny movie. All four of the main actors did a pretty good job, and the kid rapping Waterfalls was fucking hilarious.

7.7/10

the descendents - 7.5/10

thoroughly enjoyed this. both daughters were great and clooney is clooney. way more of a drama than a comedy, but it excelled in both aspects. definitely pulls you in emotionally and seems very real. do NOT watch the trailer beforehand tho as it contains a massive spoiler.

I loved The Descendants. The entire cast did well. Loved the daughter's stoner friend. The daughter is going to be Mary Jane Watson in the next Spiderman.

Just saw American Hustle, and wow was it ever a great film. The characters were tremendous and the overall story and presentation was phenomenal. You really have to applaud David O. Russel's filmmaking talent over the last few years (The Fighter, Silver Lining's Playbook and now American Hustle).

Jennifer Lawrence has become a must see for me these days. She seems like the coolest girl out there, and she's great in her films.

I'd love to be the meat in a Jennifer Lawrence/Emma Watson sandwich.

^Watched it on HBO? I saw it the other day. Couldn't grasp how I felt about it. There were some funny scenes, and a messed up truth. I'd give it a 5/10, because for whatever reason, I didn't really enjoy it.
nah. i've had it a while and loved shailene woodley in the spectacular now, so finally gave the descendents a view since she's a main character in that too.

haha, i found sid a little too abrasive at first but when he toned it down a bit he definitely grew on me.

& she actually ended up getting cut from spiderman because they wanted to focus instead on garfield/stone or some bs. not cool.

yesss jennifer lawrence is awesome. i remember flipping thru the channels like, 6 years ago and seeing her on some tv series from one of the blue collar comedy guys. strange that she went from a supporting character on a random tv show to an absolute megastar.

also, shailene woodley > emma watson!

American Hustle - 8 / 10

The actors and the director did it. Great chemistry, kept the story flowing and bought in multiple aspects for the story. It is not an awesome story, It is bland infact. It was purely the actors and the direction that converted what could have been a flop into a hit. I would compare this to Argo, not an awesome story , too many possibilities for it to flop but turned hit purely thanks to the acting and direction.

And with that ends all the great movies in 2013 ......

"The Game" (1997) - Michael Douglas/Sean Penn
7.5/10 for the simple fact that I didn't know the plot and was pretty much drawn in by the craziness of the movie. It was almost like a Total Recall/Vanilla Sky-esq feel. But then the ending just threw me.

Also- "Stoker" has been airing like a mo fo on HBO. I watched it the first time I saw it, and..... :uhh:

Anchorman 2 - 6.5

Really disappointing because the first one is one of the best of all time. They seemed to be trying way too hard, a lot of it seemed force. Definitely some hilarious parts, but overall they just took everything too far. The last 30 minutes were so awful it blew my mind. Really disappointing, because I actually heard a lot of good things. Maybe it wasn't very funny to me because I kept checking the Cavs gamecast :chuckles:

I really enjoyed The Game when I watched it a few months back. Ending got me as well.

Just watched Requiem For A Dream and Trainspotting as Netflix seemed pretty insistent that I watch them. I liked both movies, although I like Requiem a little more. I couldn't understand some of what they were saying in Trainspotting because their Scottish accents were so thick.

Requiem - 8

Trainspotting - 7

Would you say that you watched those two movies ass-to-ass?

Just got back from American Hustle. It was FANTASTIC. Jennifer Lawrence stole the show. Again.

Out of the Furnace - 6/10

While I enjoyed the movie, I dont think I can recommend it to anyone. The acting and directing were great as was the feel of the movie. It took a realistic approach to the story as opposed to doing the typical hollywood revenge stories but I feel like this is part of the reason why it was so slow. Im really glad I didnt see it in theaters because slow pacing combined with sitting in an uncomfortable chair would have just aggravated me.

If you want a movie with great acting and environment give this movie a look. Outside of that it just seems lacking.

Drinking Buddies - 7/10

Another more realistic movie that has some laughs and good acting. The realism might make the movie feel slow to some people but it didnt really bother me too much and I ended up really enjoying the movie.

the spectacular now - 8/10

excellent coming-of-age film that i think was much more natural and realistic than a typical overly glamorized teenage drama. the two leads were magnificent and the acting was just so fluid, at times almost as if there wasn't a script and they just did their thing. there were a few shortcomings but all in all one of my favorite movies of '13 and highly recommended.

On a bit of a Shailene Woodley kick are you? Lol I liked both movies, The Spectacular Now more so. Btw Shailene is like 12 years old. Not saying I wouldn't, at all.

I was lightweight obsessed with Stoker after seeing it. Not sure what drew me in, but I loved that movie. Weird that it's getting run on HBO, I didn't know it was a popular movie in the least bit.

47 Ronin....

Movie got terrible reviews.. I mean terrible.. Really losing faith in the critics. Movie was awesome.

i dunno what people expected. It's action from start to finish. It's exactly what the trailer made it out to be. I totally agree with the rotten tomatoes viewer score of 7/10. Thought the movie was good! Kept me entertained for 2 hours, the acting (outside of Reeves) was actually quite good, the setting was awesome, and the characters were great.

So.. 7/10. Don't believe the critics.. See it for yourself. But the 3D.. meh, the 3D was lackluster, didn't really notice it. Movie seemed to be filmed in 2D and then adapted. So don't worry about it paying extra for the 3D as it's likely better without.
