Exactly what IS the appeal that has kept Keanu Reeves working all these years?

Blackfish - Sickening to think that anyone can stand behind/support Sea World. As a child, my sister loved Sea World, I was never a fan of the park because I thought it was weird to have these sea lions, dolphins, otters, and Orcas respond to whistles. It just never made sense to me. I always thought "Shamu" was a massive beauty, but couldn't stand the shows. Always the low point of my summer when I had to go there.

I got Amazon Prime Instant video app for PS4 so I've been watching a ton of shit(ty movies).

I have to say though, for a low budget horror, V/H/S was a solid anthology. It was refreshingly original and while some of the stories were better than others, I found it pretty entertaining overall and it's a helluva lot better than most of the shit that is considered horror now a days. Can't understand the 44% audience review. 7/10.

Totally agree. V/H/S 2 had some two pretty good shorts, particularly the cult short -- that was awesome, could've been an entire movie. Had a subplot and everything.

You're not the only person who's said this. I'm going to have to rent it tonight.

I loved The Descendants. The entire cast did well. Loved the daughter's stoner friend. The daughter is going to be Mary Jane Watson in the next Spiderman.

Yeah, I'd give the Descendants like an 8.5/10 or so, it was such a good movie. And the second watch was just as good as the first one.

1408 : 4/10

The movie was alright until they tried to force jump or phycological scares literally every thirty seconds. It got dull after about five minutes in the hotel room. It did have Samuel L. though, but they didn't give him much of a part.

Funny, I normally agree with your movie ratings almost all the time IIRC.. But 1408 is one of my favorite horror/suspense movies of all-time. I'd give it a solid 9/10. It was perfectly done, and was quite gripping. The endings (both of them) were really well done, although I do prefer the happy ending to the really fucked up one.

Return of the Living Dead - 8/10 -- Great movie, very fun.. Not scary in the least, but it's definitely good for a laugh.

Day of the Dead (Romero) - 7/10 -- Solid zombie flick. The Romero "they're learning" shit gets annoying after awhile, but it's a good zombie film overall. Kinda drags a bit at times, but it has that classic feel to it.

Day of the Dead (2008?) - 5/10 -- Fuck... Nick Cannon and the girl from American Beauty team up and fuck around doing dumb shit... Really wanted more from the movie than this.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug [SOME SPOILERS BUT NOTHING IS REALLY CONCLUDED IN THIS ONE SO WHATEVER]

Numbers don't help me I've decided after all this time, so I'll just say what I thought. First off, I loved the first one. I understand the gripes (worse CGI on the Orcs, change in tone, too much added, extended to three movies for money) but I love Jackson's interpretation of this world and enjoy spending time in it.

That being said, here are some pros, cons and iffys.

I'll start with the Cons:

1. Stupid love triangle between Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly), Legolas and Kili (one of the dwarves). Now, the two elves are barely in the book (Legolas not at all), so the fact that they were so central to the action and had their own sideplot was tedious and duuumb. This love story was entirely invented for the movie and added NOTHING to the story.
2. Legolas doesn't have to break a sweat to kill everyone ever. He (and Tauriel) murder countless Orcs without seeming challenged in the least. They never seem even stressed. The only time there was a challenging Orc is near the end of the movie when the main Orc (new main Orc named Bolg, not Azog from the first one) punches him and gives him a slight nosebleed. Legolas looks at his own blood as if he is amazed that he can be touched by another warrior. It was reminiscent of Xerxes in 300. Note to Jackson: THE GOOD GUYS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE UNDERDOGS SO WE CARE ABOUT THEM INSTEAD OF ROOTING FOR BULLIES. When Lucas made the droids useless against lightsabers, we stopped giving a shit about the action in Star Wars. Please stop making it seem like any main character could kill an army of Orcs on their own. LOTR did that too much as it was, but this is just silly now.
3. Little things. There were a couple shots that looked like a GoPro, which was off. There was some cartoony molten animation in the Smaug sequence that didn't match the incredible looking dragon. There is also a part near the end that is kind of a head scratcher at a climactic moment.

Iffys:

1. LOTS OF ACTION. This is a very fun movie, but some (most) of the action is over the top. It matches the first Hobbit, but this trilogy stretches our suspension of disbelief quite a bit further than LOTR. I like to think of it as being a story told by Bilbo, so all the insane stuff is just his spicing up a fun story.
2. Beorn. Thought his bear form was AWESOME but his humany look left a lot to be desired, from his dumb facial hair to his growly semi-annoying voice. Wasn't into him. Felt a bigger bearish woodsman type man would've been enough, but Jackson likes to embellish.
3. Lee Pace as Thranduil. Maybe it's the character itself but I wasn't into his performance, even though I like him. David Tennant was early rumored to get the part, and maybe he would have been better.
4. The score. Not much in the way of themes. They didn't use the Misty Mountain Theme from the first one. The only thing that stuck out was the Laketown theme, which was still subtle. Pretty meh for a LOTR film. The credits song made me want to run out of the theater as well. What was that?

PROS:

1. BILBO. Everything he does in this movie is awesome. Early on he's courageous, then he's clever and then he's hilarious when talking to Smaug. Freeman nails it.
2. CGI is improved. Still not happy they didn't have human orcs again, but they looked far more detailed this round. I read that this was because they expanded Azog last minute for the first one.
3. SMAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGG.
4. Laketown was done well. The Dwarves delivered again, especially in the barrel sequence. Gandalf was good once again. Radagast was there and I like him even if some hate him. At the end I was left wanting more, which isn't really Jackson's trademark haha.

Overall this one is about even with the first for me, but I enjoyed that one more than the average person I think. This movie may have the edge just because fucking SMAUG was fucking cool. Actually, yes, yes it does. Excited for the finale!

EDIT: Fuck, I wrote a lot... I'm a fucking nerd.

I thought it had potential, but I hated the rapid fire of scares in the room. I'm not a huge horror fan to start with, but I do like when scares are more spread out and not happening every 45 seconds. I was probably a little harsh giving it a 4. It's probably closer to a 6.

The Room.

11/10
