VHS and VHS 2 were great, especially the cult short film. If you like found footage horrors, try Grave Encounters. We were on a "found footage" kick for a while.

We watched The Shrine tonight, surprisingly a good movie imo. I mean its just another cheap cult horror movie i guess, but decent for what it is.

Great recommendation. Grave Encounters is a movie you'd instantly just laugh off at first glance, but it's definitely a movie worth watching.. Loved it. The sequel isn't as good, but it's still decent -- better than most.

the kings of summer 5/10

honestly hated everything about this except nick offerman's character (who was good) and biaggio (who was absolutely hilarious). without them, particularly the latter, i prob would've shut it off midway thru.

still worth a watch on a lazy day i guess, if only for those 2 characters.

Team America. Fuck Yeah! A- movie rating.

I really enjoyed Wolf of Wall Street. I can also see why someone would hate it. Really lays it on thick with the random debauchery. DiCaprio is great as always and turns out an amazing performance. As does Jonah Hill (and McConaughey in his brief cameo).

It's a little long and some stuff could have easily gotten trimmed, but I agree with Land in that you never feel like it's really dragging.

8/10

I liked Stoker, too. Same director that did the original Old Boy so it was an automatic see for me. Very slow-paced but never boring. Great acting performance from Mia Wasikowska. Uncle Charlie was a creep.

7.5/10

Watched The Ledge last night. It wasn't bad though at the end of the movie they finally realized "wait we could have avoided this entire predicament from the get-go." Plus I have a man crush on Charlie Hunnam.

An outspoken, annoying athiest would probably enjoy the movie.

I need to watch Session 9, I keep hearing it is good but I think the one time I watched it I fell asleep.

I also really like Wolf of Wall Street. It didn't really develop, the plot was predictable and characters didn't really become textured but frankly it was outweighed by the ridiculous scenes that had me in tears, laughing.

8.5/10

Wolf of Wall Street was decent at best. The first book was fantastic, the second one wasnt too great. As far as Jordan Belfort, the "DiCaprio" portrays, he was and still is a piece of shit. The whole "we didnt make this to glorify that lifestyle," is bull shit. People still pull that kind of shit on Wall Street as far as the antics he pulls, but it was nothing overly shocking. He was a douche and there is a reason that despite all the money he made, he wasn't allowed to join any prestigious country club, social or anything of much substance outside of being able to sit at Bo Dietel's table at Rao's.

In short, Jordan Belfort was basically "The Situation" with half a brain and was able to steal other peoples money with a rag tag group of guys who did nothing more than read a cold calling script. No such thing as easy money on Wall Street. Straton Oakmont, also, was not some huge power player brokerage firm, they were still pretty small by comparison. The movie made it look like Straton Oakmont had the prestige of Goldman, when in fact it was the K-Mart of brokerage firms.

Netflix released a bunch of movies to the streaming feature. "American Psycho" made the list, so I watched it. The only thing that I appreciate from the film is "Patrick Bateman's" taste and deep thoughts on music. In particular, Genisis/Phil Collins.

He was an asshole and the movie lost me with about 20-30mins left. But he did take care of this body, I'll give him that.
6/10.

You have to watch a couple more times to "get it."

Bateman didn't make the top 10 movie psycho chosen by FBI profilers so I'm not sure how accurate his portrayal is, but I love the joy in his face when he gets that girl with the chainsaw, pure child like joy.

Watched avengers again last night as got the blu for Christmas, just great fun and a great script, whedon should have written all the iron man movies he just nails the dry humour. Still a solid 8.5/10

American Hustle was the better movie, but Wolf of Wallstreet was piss jarringly entertaining.

Actually, thats to be taken literally, I hit the bathroom on the way out and pissed fire and I have no idea why so I blame the movie.

Anyways, most entertaining movie ive seen in theatres since the first jackass

Dave, ask Quad about your symptoms, I think he can help.

Lone Survivor 9/10

somebody called it the best war movie since Private Ryan and it might very well be. as intense and realistic as it gets...

12 years a Slave 10/10

best movie of the year by a wide margin and full of great performances. Chiwetel Ejiofor should be a lock for the Oscar imo although i have to admit i haven't seen Her yet (Joaquin Phoenix is getting rave reviews for that role...)
