I also watched Dallas Buyers Club last night and I've changed my mind on the best picture of the year. I also never thought much of Matt Mc before this past month but True Detective and this movie have me changing my mind.

That said, he still plays a version of Wooderson from Dazed and Confused in it... He even drops an "Alright, alright, alright" at one point. Its just a version of Wooderson that is an immensely captivating character.

A great Phillip Seymour Hoffman movie I haven't seen listed yet is Before the Devil Knows Your Dead.

Just finished DBC. It was a great movie. Amazing performance by Matthew Mcc and Jared Leto.

MattyMcc has been on fire these past few years. He left those BS RomCom/chick flick movies behind and is doing a lot of great films that take massive balls to sign up for. He went from "How to lose a guy in 10 days" to a corrupt pedophile cop in Killer Joe to a closet homosexual who is into BDSM in Paperboy to a homophobe AIDS ridden cowboy in DBC.

Balls man. Balls.

As much as I love me some Leo.. I wish he had the guts to do some of these roles MattyMcc does..

DBC summary through the eyes of a halfwit:

So first, the old stripper from Magic Mike is working in a rodeo doing drugs, and he fucks all these chicks. Then, he finds out an actor in Hollywood has AIDS and he's like, "Fuck you!". Then he finds out he also has AIDS in a doctor's office and he's like "Fuck you!". Then his friend bangs a bunch of strippers and he's like "Alright, alright, alright!". Then the old stripper from Magic Mike goes to the library and finds out he really did get AIDS and he's like "FUCK!". Then he finds out he can't get good AIDS drugs and he's like "Fuck you doctors!". Then he meets a chick he's doesn't wanna fuck and he gets a leg massage. Then that chick is a guy and he's like "Fuck you!". Then he goes to Mexico and tells the boarder patrol "Fuck you!". Then he wants to fuck a doctor chick who really is a chick but he spends all his time with the dude chick. The guy dies and he's like "Fuck you!"

There's more, but that's the most important stuff.

Saw The Counselor. Really disappointed. Too wordy. Did have an awesome death scene though. Lots of great actors in this.... Bardem, fassbender, Pitt among them. Wasted talent imo

Didn't know cormac McCarthy did the script until after the fact. If I'd known I'd have tempered expectations. I would not call this a thriller at all.

I was hoping to watch "Stand By Me", and as usual, Netflix let me down. It was suggested that I watch "Say Anything". It's one of the many movies that I've never seen but probably should have. I'll say it was well acted, but it's not a stand out movie for me.

Ender's Game 7/10

I really loved the book, and the movie did a pretty good job of portraying it. The only thing I wish was different was:

-In the book the the Battle School days were much more lengthy, but I understand that they need to cut it down in the movie for timing purposes. However, the Battle School aspect/battles were personally my favorite part while reading the book.

-Moises Arias was a terrible choice to play Bonzo, he could not be taken seriously as a "villain" in the movie. I wish that they picked somebody with more of a dark side to his personality, somebody more intimidating.

Watched Mitt & The Square, both of which are Netflix released docs with the Square being nominated for Best Documentary at the Oscars. Very solid documentaries all around that I would definitely recommend watching. Mitt 7/10, The Square 8/10.

It's been brought up once earlier in the thread, but I'd definitely recommend catching Dallas Buyers Club. I've never thought much about Matthew McConaughey as an actor but he was tremendous in this one. A good story that was well acted. 8.5/10.

Just watched this the other night.. I agree 8.5/10. McConaughey carries the film with his performance. Great film. If it were most any other year, it would be Best Picture. McConaughey may yet win Best Actor for his work, and if he does, it would be well deserved. It's the performance of his career.

Good God, is Ryan Gosling handsome.

What the fuck, man?

Get on True Detective NOW! Fantastic McConaughey performance, on par with anything he's done in films.

Just watched "Gung Ho" (1986) for the first time in years. What an amazing 80's comedy movie starring the one and only Michael Keaton. This is a must see 80's comedy.

Keaton was such an amazing physical-comedy actor in his prime.
