What does Leo have to do to win an oscar? Seriously. I'm sure he'll get a lifetime achievement award when it's all said and done. But he should have a fist full by now.
Happy for Jared Leto. Been a fan of his music for a while now.

Edit- I think he has to play a gay AIDS ridden slave lost in space

Just to be sure.

Remember the Titans - 8.8 / 10

Simply one of the better sports movies out there, although I'm still not a huge fan of Denzel Washington's character in the movie. Not sure why, especially since he's such a major character.

For the first half of the movie he's a total dick.

You really think he deserved to win over the other nominees this year? I think the right man won.

Leo is good and that was a good performance. He just had the bad luck of having being nominated during a year where his category was stacked.

He'll get one eventually, I have no doubt.

how about when he was nominated for the Aviator, or Blood Diamond? Oscars also have a way of being awarded to people who do not deserve it that year, but were snubbed the previous years. I'm more bummed about Christopher Nolan never winning the best director .... or the fact that the Oscars were never presented to a sci-fi genre movie. I think the people who decide on the Oscars are old people who do not have a sense of imagination, they can only relate to drama.

This year Leo deservedly lost to Matthew McConnaughey who simply put out the most effort and best performance of any actor in the last several years. Leo was still behind Chiwetel Ejiofor this year for his performance, by all accounts, and again deservedly so.

Leo did a fantastic job in The Aviator, one of my favorite films; but he lost to Jamie Foxx who truly put up the better performance in Ray. Not to take anything away from Leo's performance, but Foxx was simply brilliant in the film - even though I think The Aviator is the better of the two movies, Foxx simply outperformed him.

With Blood Diamond, he lost to Forest Whitaker in The Last King of Scotland. The movie was unreal, simply brilliant, and Whitaker truly transformed throughout that film. I'd say Leo's work in The Aviator was superior to both his work in Blood Diamond and Whitaker's portrayal in The Last King of Scotland, but that specific year, Whitaker I think deservedly won.

Coming back full circle, I just can't see Leo winning this year as The Wolf of Wall Street wasn't in the same league as the movies it was up against, and the acting wasn't remotely as demanding or difficult.

I'd like to see him win an Oscar as well, as he's a great actor, but I'd hate to see someone denied who deserved to win simply to award Leo an Oscar.

Totally agree. The Nolan thing has to do with the Director's Guild disliking Christopher Nolan. But this was the year Leo should have won it big.

Inception should have won Best Picture, easily, as it was by far the best movie on the list, and Nolan certainly deserved the Best Director nod - but he wasn't even nominated AFAIK. But going back to Leo, I thought that was his year. The King's Speech seemed like an excuse simply to ignore Inception as a serious work of art and instead label it a summer blockbuster, when in fact, it was a very deep and demanding film. I also thought Marion Cotillard would easily win Best Supporting Actress but, again, she wasn't even nominated!

Agree about the Kings Speech not being deserving, but for a different reason. I thought the Social Network was an outstanding movie and touched on so many poignant and meaningful aspects of life, ambition and friendship as well as the more modern themes of the ways in which technology and social media are changing our lives. I think in 5-10 years onwards people will view it as clearly the best and most lasting film of that year.

Over Inception?

I've noticed fans of Social Network are very into the film. I thought it was good, but it failed to really move me at all. Inception though, I thought was literally a perfect work in literally all respects; 10/10.

This movie will go down in history as one of the greatest films of the 21st century.

I agree completely that Matthew Mc deserved it this year. Just a trend I see year in and year out.

If anything, the trend is that Leo always puts in a good performance but there's also always at least one person who puts in a better one. It's less a slight on Leo and more just recognizing that he's not the best actor out there.

I agree with half of this.. I think Leo is a better actor overall than pretty much everyone who beat him out over the years. Matthew McConaughey has put up some really good performances recently though, so it's kind of confused, but I do think Leo is a better actor than him, Whitaker, and Foxx. His work is always good, and the same can't be said for those other actors.

That's my issue. He's being beat out by one hit wonders and it's frustrating. Besides Matthew Mc none of these other guys will have a worthy performance again. And they're beating out the best performer year in and year out.
