Yesterday I re watched Blow. It's my favorite film of all time. 10/10 . I liked the story. Maybe can somebody recommend me a similar film with same story?

Horror Fans - Did you watch Overlord ? Heard good things about it ... is it theater worthy ?

It was enjoyable and very pretty, just lacking in substance. You don't really get a sense of who any of these characters are or why they are doing what they are doing. I guess they just expected us to already know since it's history, but I read they cut twenty minutes from the final film (which is a pretty brisk two hours...short for a film of this type) and I can't help but wonder if most of that was characterization.

Loved Stephen Dillane as Edward. He was perfectly cast in that role, as it's not entirely dissimilar from Stannis Baratheon. Chris Pine was fine as Robert Bruce. He didn't have a whole lot to do character-wise, but I thought his accent was on point and he did a good job with the limited material. It's Aaron Taylor-Johnson that steals the show, though, as James Douglas. He looked like he was having a great time in the role and he's great in every scene he's in.

The battle scenes were great. The visual effects were top notch. The costumes are gorgeous. Visually, it's a spectacular film that reminds me a bit of Altered Carbon in that the production values just seem through the roof.

Overall, definitely worth watching. It's a lot more accurate than Braveheart (not saying much, I guess). Still takes a lot of liberties, but that's to be expected I think. If you like historical epics, you'll almost certainly enjoy this one.

The Night Comes for Us

Holy shit...this movie was just insane. If you're a fan of absurdly violent martial arts movies in the style of The Raid (which this movie shares a star with), this one's for you.

Really not much else to say. The fights are all pretty damn awesome, with several that stand out. The story is there. It's not terribly important, but it's functional enough. The basic premise is that a guy working for the Triads turns traitor when he refuses to kill a little girl and kills the men with him instead. You can probably figure out what happens next, and it ends up with a whole lot of people dead or maimed.

Highly recommend this one if, as I said, you liked The Raid. It's pretty much just more of that. If the thought of dozens of screaming Indonesian men with machetes getting massacred by the busload in a world where every thug has at least a rudimentary understanding of martial arts is something that excites you, this one is for you. I loved it.

Nice. Raid 2 is my favorite action martial arts film of all time, so I'm really excited for this. Looks like there's a bunch of actors from R2 that appear in this... obiously Iko Uwais, but also Julie Estelle (Baseball Bat Girl in R2 (as cool as it sounds)) and Joe Taslim.
 
Just watched the first segment of Netflix's Coen brothers Western anthology film The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. It was very good and had some great laughs. Tim Blake Nelson was excellent in it. Going to watch the rest of the movie tomorrow.

For those unaware, it's a movie composed of six individual short Western films, all made by the Coens. Just released about an hour ago I think.

Going to re-watch it now, actually, since I just re-watched the first one last night. Haven't seen it since the year it came out.

Edit: Legit laughed early in the movie when they told the main character he'd be retrained so he'd have better skills. I'd be like, "Motherfucker, I literally just killed 200 people with my martial arts."

There's something about the brutality of the martial art that really comes off well on screen and is such a breath of fresh air compared to all of the kung fu films. Every blow feels like it's thrown to do damage.
 
Ok so this is weird as fuck

Hulu has a new series called into the Dark and the episode The Body is fucking verbatim the same exact thing as one of the subplots from patient seven. It even uses the same character names. I don’t really know what is going on here
