The last thing the Cavs need is another guard that doesn't play defense.

Edit: I'm bias, would honestly prefer a big to guard the paint.

You obviously sign Allen cause at some points during the season he's going to give you that 6-0 or 9-0 type run you desperately need to get over the edge. Also he seems like the type of guy that you'd want to get into Dion's head a bit. We desperately need another guy to really step up in 2014-15, hopefully Dion has a quest for greatness.

I'm not really high on Ray Allen right now, since he's clearly on decline and can't defend anymore.

However, if Dion is going to be a starter, and chances are he will, it would be important to have a guy who can score 15+ points on a given game from the bench.

But most importantly, Dion's minutes should be managed wisely, in a way that he might leave a bit earlier in the 1st and 3rd, only to start 2nd and 4th, leading the reserves block.

I would love Ray's experience on the bench. Or if Blatt thinks its better having Dion come off the bench so he can control the ball a bit more while one of the big 3 comes off I'm all for that as well. Ray isn't a must have piece but a very nice one.

Of course Ray Allen is on the decline. He's 39 years old. He's not going to be Ray Allen from 10 years ago, five years ago or even two years ago. What he is, is a sharp shooter who fits with LeBron well on the offensive end of the floor. Contrary to what certain people in here are saying, you can never have enough quality shooters. If he is willing to take the vet minimum, you absolutely sign him. It's a no-brainer. Same with Marion.

Allen would play anywhere from 10-20 minutes on any given night at most. He's not going to take minutes from any player who deserves playing time. His locker room presence and experience would be huge additions.

If ray allen signs, there is no doubt gonna be a game, or games where he hits a 3 to win. That alone is worth bringing him in.

I'd take Ray Allen in a heartbeat. As has been said in the last few posts, his leadership experience and sublime 3-PT shot makes him perfect for limited minutes.

In saying that though, if we had a choice between Allen and Marion, I'd take Marion at this point in time.

Ray Allen in a Cavs jersey would be something else. One of the few players that it would just never seem right. What next KG?

38 year old Ray Allen was attacking the basket better than Bosh

That has to mean something right?

Delly, Allen, Miller, Marion, Varejao benchsquad

I dunno, the Cavs wanted him the off-season we acquired Larry Hughes. Allen would just join Mike Miller as current Cavs guys that we wish we got a decade ago.

IMO, not only should we sign him, but it'd be a fantastic signing. And not even just for his shooting..

It's been alluded to, but not enough: Allen would be instrumental in helping kyrie & Dion's off the ball game. Staying active, getting open, cutting, etc. Playing with LeBron, that's gonna be an essential part of their games going forward now

I'll admit it. I don't want him. The more we add from current/past Heat teams, the less enjoyable it becomes. Yes, I want a championship and I understand the value Ray brings, but I don't like the guy for how he punked Boston. I'd honestly rather roll the dice with Joe Harris than having to root for Ray. I still thoroughly enjoy that KG hasn't spoken a word to Ray since he left Boston.

That's pretty shitty. KG isn't even a Celtic anymore, and he CHOSE to waive his no trade clause in order to become a Net. Ray's move was vindicated when Boston showed its heavy decline following his departure. He's always been about winning championships. He was quoted when David West spurned Boston for Indiana as saying he felt winning wasn't as important as money to David West. Ray isn't that way. He wants to win. He did win. And he had a damn big part in the winning.

Ehhh...Boston had just taken Miami to 7 games and may have win that series if not for Dwayne Wade being one of the dirtiest players in the game. The C's were actively looking to trade Rondo as well to smooth out chemistry issues (OKC was a likely partner for Westbrook) but Ray left so the C's bagged it.

Anyways, I get that Ray won a title so he's validated from a winning perspective. It was still a bitch move and something I lost a ton of respect for him from. I'd rather not have to cheer for him.

And comparing Ray leaving for Miami and KG waiving a no trade clause isn't comparable at all. Singe wanted Pierce and KG off the roster because their window was now officially closed based on the parts they could fit around them. KG, never in a million years, would have left Boston for Miami the way Ray Allen did. Just up and leave for the rival rather than staying and fighting? No way. Pussy move.
