Ehhh...Boston had just taken Miami to 7 games and may have win that series if not for Dwayne Wade being one of the dirtiest players in the game. The C's were actively looking to trade Rondo as well to smooth out chemistry issues (OKC was a likely partner for Westbrook) but Ray left so the C's bagged it.

Anyways, I get that Ray won a title so he's validated from a winning perspective. It was still a bitch move and something I lost a ton of respect for him from. I'd rather not have to cheer for him.

And comparing Ray leaving for Miami and KG waiving a no trade clause isn't comparable at all. Singe wanted Pierce and KG off the roster because their window was now officially closed based on the parts they could fit around them. KG, never in a million years, would have left Boston for Miami the way Ray Allen did. Just up and leave for the rival rather than staying and fighting? No way. Pussy move.

No they weren't

I don't have any insider info, but I'm beginning to get the feeling that Ray isn't coming after Marion signed. Ray probably wants to get minutes, and that's not guaranteed in Cleveland. He can stay with his family in Miami and get 20 minutes a game as Wade's backup if he plays for the Heat.

This encounter may not have helped Miami's cause: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/nba-star-ray-allen-heated-home-break/story?id=25049127

I agree that there aren't many guaranteed minutes left in Cleveland, but he could wait to sign later in the year after the landscape settles a bit.

I sort of thought the break-in makes it less likely Allen decides to play in Cleveland, or anywhere other than Miami. It's not as if his family will be moving with him, so he would be leaving them there alone. I guess making sure his wife locks the doors might help.

I don't know. Marc Spears reported a week ago (Aug 17th) that the Cavs were "optimistic" that Allen would sign before "the start of training camp." The fact nothing has happened yet isn't totally surprising.

That said, I could see him deciding that 3 rings is enough, and either retiring or playing another year in Miami (assuming that's an option), if he gets the itch to put in another year.

I think he was remarkably good and reliable last year for a 38 year old guard. As far as minutes are concerned, I think there is a decent chance, and I know some of you don't want to hear this, that the Cavs trade Dion (either because they have decided a different SG would fit better or to replace an injured player). If that happens, there will be plenty of minutes available at the SG.

No way the Cavs trade Dion right now, and I'd rate it as highly unlikely they move him this season. If the fit proves to be bad or something unforeseen happens, they may revisit it, but I don't think Dion's going anywhere anytime soon.

LeBron loves Dion, by the way, as if it wasn't obvious by the way he's talked about him :chuckle:

Idk when but i remember Jalen sayin in one of those podcasts that he expects Ray Allen to be in Cavaliers uniform. He said The reason why he hasn't signed is he doesn't wan't be in the camp early on cuz he's already in shape and he wants to have some time with his kids

Ray only won 1 ring with Miami.

If the Cavs do sign Ray Alen, he should be starting, right? Seems like Dion Waiters is better suited as the 6th man.

Not sure you really want Ray Allen defending starters at this point in his career. I might prefer Shawn Marion as a Waiters alternative.

As this drags on I could see Allen basically trying to wait until mid-season before signing on. If you are still undecided this late right before training camp...he might be at that point where he just doesn't want to go through the full regular season grind anymore and just wants to compete in the playoffs.

On the bright side our depth at the SG position is good enough I don't see it as a huge issue regardless of what he decides. It's moreso keeping him away from the competition more than anything else.

I just read in an Israeli sport online magazine that Ray Allen is planning to meet with David Blatt on this weekend or at the beginning of next week.
I tried to find some legit sources for that and I couldn't find any, just random people in tweeter mentioning this.
In Google I found a website mentioning this as well, and they wrote their source which is @tspence26.
I guess this just makes the whole thing even less real, but I thought I'll just give you guys the info...

I follow Spanish Cavs Fans on twitter and they have some off the wall trade rumors some times, usually (always) they are unfounded but its still interesting to hear about just in case it is real

I really believe he'll sign with us. He has a connection with LeBron, JJ, and Miller. It would've sweet to have him Cavs uniform.
In Jalen's pod when he asked where Ray gonna play on LIVE he just said Cleveland without even thinking. After that Jacoby comes up with the obvious 'Don't get fired' comment :chuckle:
