Just noticed I clinched a playoff spot! Started from the bottom now I'm here.

(Engage first round exit)

WTF you guys. This is supremely disappointing. I said read my PMs cause I meant it. There was 1000% no collusion. Want me to post em? There were three.

Plus I'm doing just fine in this season. Why would I cheat to get even further?

Seriously. I am so surprised by this.

I voted no, because it's pretty clear what's going on and you can tell stereo damn well knows it. He's saying the exact same kind of shit I'd have said if I'd have been called out when Huber and I were trying to work out a landslide victory for me once he knew he was out of the running.

Read my PMs...

My response above was related to this post. Jigo, I know you like to joke and I'm hoping that's what this is. Because otherwise you are accusing me and huber of cheating which We absolutely were not doing. That's serious and I'm not laughing.

Ron I thanked your post because although I think that is the wrong definition of what a trade veto is for, I understand it and don't fault you.

And supergoat hits the crux of the issue. Is the point of a veto because someone negotiated well but the trade weights to one side, because that punishes smart negotiating. I got the better player, but it's because I had something someone else needed and although he paid the higher price, his standing made it necessary. Just like in the NBA. Sometimes you get the Pau Gasol for the raw prospects because you are I'm the position to do so. And the other guy does the deal cause maybe beyond all odds, he gets the Marc Gasol end of the risky deal.

I was under the impression that vetoes were for cheat dumps. If I did that I would have just sent my crap players for his stars. I offered one of my best players and took back an injured one. Big difference in my mind.

Rules need to be clearer.

Kidding. I don't at all think you're cheating and I didn't even vote against it.

But the trade was horribly one sided. Duncan doesn't even compare to George and Alphabet isn't even really as good as a healthy Waiters. Here's two combinations I'd have voted yes for:

You: Harden+ Alphabet for
Huber: George+ Waiters

You: Duncan+ Stephenson for
Huber: George+ Garbage

I guess I'm in the minority, I think its an ok trade. Stereo wins it but not over the top. Sometimes bad trades happen.

Thanks Surge. But at this point I don't even want it. I want a shot to win without an asterisk, fair or unfair.

I am not the commish but if the trade is imbalanced I think you have to vote no.... that is why I am leaning towards no.

Thats not why you veto trades. You should only veto if you know that there is cheating at play. That trade had a clear winner in Stereo but as long as they didn't cheat it should be allowed to go through.

Huber should weigh in if we are going to discuss overturning a veto because this looks like a dishonest trade from an outside perspective. Everyone knows what happens to Duncan at the end of the regular season. Huber can't even spell the other guy's name. This is exactly why a veto option is in place.

See i have always voted no against what I though were one sided trades, going back to my first league. I do not think you cheated nor would i ever imply that (unless it was jigo)

Yeah Huber hasn't exactly been standing up for his side. When my trade with Jigo almost got vetoed I was really upset and laid out a big case as for why i wanted the trade and how i thought it made me better. Stereo has done that obviously, Huber really hasn't.

Stereo I can completely understand why you would be upset, but i hope you can at least understand why it causes such an uproar. A team that is eliminated from the playoffs trades a top 10 player to a playoff team, on the premise that it is to make a last ditch run for the 8 spot. And the playoff team gives up a player largely viewed as top-40, who famously declines in value in the last weeks of the regular season. If it were January, it would be different, but it's March and he is 22.5 games and 4 people back.

I totally understand the uproar, and although I obviously have strong feelings on the subject, I'm still young in this league so I'll sit back and let everyone else set the precedent.

He did so pretty clearly in the first page or two of this discussion.

Id copy and paste but I'm on a phone.

I'm not making the playoffs with Dion sitting around and getting less minutes than Jack. I made this trade hoping Duncan and Giannis comibined would out produce PG and that Dion would be out for awhile. More of a swing for the fences desperation move. One error I did make was I didn't realize the playoffs are only 3 weeks away giving me about a 1% shot at making them so if you veto it do it because of that not because you think I am trolling.

Huber's explanation...

Honestly guys, don't waste time debating an overturn of a veto. Truthfully I'd really rather it not go through cause I don't want the stigma of winning any playoff series with a roster that people don't consider valid.

If Huber still wants to take a swing and would rather take a higher rated player than Giannis, and I'll take a lower rated player than Dion, that's fine and it's up to him. But unless the commish can push it through immediately, by the time it went through whatever slim hope it held for him becomes meaningless.

I'd rather see a debate about setting hard and fast rules set on what earns a veto and what doesn't because clearly some of the league thinks it means one thing, and some of it thinks it means the other. I would never have wasted my time researching, putting out proposals, etc if I knew that winning a trade means it's vetoed. Because to me right now, the rules sound like if fantasy points don't equal out perfectly on each side, and if someone comes away having negotiated a better deal for themselves then it will get booted.

Also, I'd recommend that the trade deadline get moved up by at least two weeks next year. Because then, someone way back, but not totally out of reach can still make a swing for the fences and play the numbers, and the other person won't get accused of pushing through a lopsided trade or colluding.

I know CCF is swamped with work and preparing to get married right now... this is why we were discussing punishments for the bottom of the standings. It sucks when people tank at the end of the year.

Tanking? What would tanking do in a non-keeper league? I have been active all season trying to gain ground. Last year I made the playoffs, this year I have been dealing with injuries.

I explained in here why I accepted the trade Mr. Stern. If you don't think my fantasy skills are up to par, check my Yahoo! trophy case #trophiesdontlie
