RCF Podcast Episode #2 - Brian Windhorst Is Our Guest

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Great show today. Windy is the best in the business. I will not listen to the first show with The Bullshit Whisperer because I feel that anything he writes lacks substance. The Bullshit Whisperer writes an article just to write an article. IMO, The Bullshit Whisperer provides the worst Cavs coverage of any journalist. I would listen to the Podcast if it was any other guest but I could get more insight into the game by reading Hoopshype. Can anybody clarify what Windy meant about possibility of LBJ coming back in 2014? Moohead you did a great job today!!

Windy really is solid, I had a great time just being able to chat with him for a little while.

Windy essentially said that he felt Lebron realized that he really missed his hometown while he was spending more time there during the lockout. He is also a big fan of Kyrie Irving's ability, and Lebron has proven before that he will go somewhere that has good young talent.

Windy isn't sure if it'll be 2014, 2017, or even later in Lebron's career, but he thinks James can probably play at a high level for 7-10 more years. He also thinks it is fairly well known that he will NOT finish his career in Miami, giving Cleveland a decent chance at getting him back.

I'd say that Windy really believes Lebron will be back at some point in his career from talking to him and honestly, it's gonna be difficult to find someone else more qualified to speculate successfully on something that we're so far away from. Even Windhorst said we were too early to be discussing it... but it was still an interesting thing to think about.

Be on the lookout for a piece he is currently writing for ESPN this week regarding the 2014 FA frenzy.

Windy really hates the duo of Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis in the backcourt together. I wonder if it has something to do with how small they are or how both players strengths are having the ball in their hands to initiate. Neither guy plays a lick of defense either... (looks over at a Irving/Waiters pairing)

I think this is a fair point. However, Irving is special. As I've previously stated I have never seen a young guy with such a complete offensive skillset. With his ability to shoot both off the catch and off the dribble, I think it makes sense to have him play off the ball and Irving looks good w/ or w/o the ball. I don't see Jennings or Ellis with that kind of off the ball ability: they both are chuckers and I don't see "chucker" anywhere in Irving's game.

And for all the Waiters bashing, conversely, I feel he can be a better passer then either Jennings/Ellis. In the summer league that was one thing that stuck out with him was that if he was listed as a PG rather then SG, people would have been happy with how he was able to run the team

Some of the best cavs analysis i've read/listened to in a long time. Makes me really miss Windy. He's not even a beat writer for the cavs and he's provided off the cuff commentary on the cavs that is lightyears ahead of anything MSB has provided.

He's an ESPN writer who is a Cavs fan. I think that is friggin awesome. I kind of like the fact that we are privy to a pretty candid interview with Windy that, thus far, seems to have fallen below the radar. We have a lot of info and I really like having a pretty comprehensive view of the atmosphere within the organization.

Absolutely fantastic. Very excited to hear that Windy will never lose his touch with NE Ohio, and will do his best to represent us on the national stage. I was kind of giddy to hear that.

This was sick...nice work guys. You've put together a genuinely quality product.

Well done, gentlemen. Just out of curiosity, which RCF member co-hosted the podcast with Mr. Moo?

Thanks a bunch for doing this guys. Downloaded it last night and listened to it at work today - was really fun listening. Much appreciated.

Very interesting indeed, especially concerning Dan Gilbert's feelings concerning a potential LeBron return. He said that LeBron has admitted that he was out of line doing the 'decision' but also that Dan realizes that he's made some mistakes too. Windy would know, he was in our draft room this year when we drafted Dion Waiters. Said were not specifically planning for LeBron to come back, but if the option is there both sides would be thinking about it.

Awesome stuff Moohead, really appreciate the effort.

Yep, I'm the co-host with Marc/Moo ;). Having a lot of fun doing this so far guys! Looks like Bob Finnan for next week, so make sure to tune in and tell your friends!

Did anyone else come to the conclusion that Windy reads RCF frequently? Now what account is he? :detective

He used to read RCF but I doubt he has the time for such shenanigans now.

Well he did just say in the podcast that he still hops on the board now and then to see what people are talking about. But I'm sure it's every few weeks at best. Maybe a couple times a season.

Pretty obvious that when Windhorst says he thinks Lebron will come back it is more Windhorst hoping that he comes back because hes such a LeBron fan. He wants him to be loved in Cleveland. The way Windhorst always hedges when he thinks he might come back tells you he doesnt think it will happen anytime soon. This idea that the Cavs would want him back after missing his 8-10 prime years is absurd. Either '14 or never

RCF hits it out of the park with this interview.

I appreciate your efforts.

Fine stuff.

Windhorst talking about basketball is as good as it gets. He has the chops to put the known ESPN mouths to shame.

Thanks again.
