Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why does that concern you? Not being a dick, actually wondering. Completing passes, not turning the ball over, and being accurate are all Bakoeer's strengths.

I am yet to see any sort of sample size in which he demonstrates ability to go through actual progressions quickly; he needs serious refinement to his game and to be honest I just have absolutely no faith in Hue’s ability to develop. He’s lost me as a coach completely.

It’s just hard to see it working out when I’m not sure I’m confident in his cerebral approach to the game either.

e: wrong thread.

So much for smokescreens and snuff in out the leaks.

He was my #3, distantly.

This never would have happened under Sashi.

The PFF page is interesting. I wish It made me believe he won’t struggle to consistently complete passes.
I have a mixed past when it comes to evaluating collegiate quarterbacks to the NFL, but I'm not sure why you're focusing on completing passes consistently when he has shown excellent accuracy both in the pocket and outside of it and all of the scouts/numbers seem to support this idea.

No one knows for sure how these guys will pan out because so much of it depends on landing in the right place at the right time and behind the scenes stuff that we don't see like studying film, tendencies and knowing the playbook inside and out... but, the man is extremely accurate.

I'd encourage you to watch Voch Lombardi break down his game:

*NOTE: This is a real breakdown and it isn't all good, obviously. But this guy knows football and he likes Mayfield a lot.

He's never had to go through multiple reads. He holds the ball too long. He has average physical tools, except for his height which is below average. I mean, he's better than Josh Allen. So that's good.

Maybe he'll develop into an average starter, but he was the fucking #1 pick. Should have aimed a bit higher than that.

Haley is going to have to (not this year, but eventually) run a Bill Walsh/Mike Holmgren inspired "West Coast Offense" to get the most out of this guy IMO.

I've seen him compared to Young, Farve, and Brees. All three of those guys seemed to do their best in that sort of offense IMO.

God that wind up. Good corners are going to make it look so easy against him.

He's stated he builds his offensive system around his talent. I have faith.

I will say Baker...for being an asshole, sounds extremely humble, grateful for the chance.

On the flip side? We all wanted Rosen, but damn, what a prick.

"AFTER THEY SAID 1, 2, 3...I GOT PISSED"

...

Again...Dude, you said you didn't want to come here. Mayfield did. and again...I'm as skeptical as hell of the guy, but that probably went a ways with the people on this team.

“Never had to go through multiple reads”

You can stop reading right there. Every single college football QB has had to go through multiple reads. What a joke of an analysis.

Did he get interviewed at all tonight? Wasn't able to watch.

I was excited to get Jonny Minzel and getting Baker was a horrendous nightmare. Maybe because the Browns live in parallel universe where losing is winning this may actually work out.
