So I am not sure how many tennis fans we have here, but I just want to acknowledge how incredible his victory for 18th all time, 4 more than anyone, doing it at 35 and defeating the man in 2nd with 14.

He isnt just an all time great tennis player, he is an all time great athlete, maybe even top 10 all time.

The greatest to ever lace them up

He stayed true to his word

On the way to 20 now

In Switzerland nothing is given everything is earned

Ki$$ the $lams

Caught the 5th set. Pretty incredible how these two looked out there. Tennis is a very underrated sport. One vs one, doesn't get much better than that.

Seeing old man Fed win again was awesome.

Wish they both could have won, maybe Nadal will win the French this year. I like both of them much more than Djokovic.

I can't stand djokavich. Wawrinka and that backhand FTW!

Tennis is my favorite sport, tied with basketball.

There really is nothing like tennis. Mentally and physically demanding. Things can change so quickly. You could have match point and then have to play another hour and then have match point again and still lose. Very intense stuff. You have to be in excellent shape to be a good player. Roger probably has the best footwork of any player ever.

If you are a tennis fan you have to like both Rafa and Roger. I've been a Roger fan for years so obviously I wanted this one badly. This was known as the "legacy match." Probably the most important match of all time. Hats off to the 35 year old.

Roger will play at least 2 more years if he is healthy. I don't think he's too confident in his health. But he and Rafa, if healthy, are definitely capable of getting to more finals.

Bump.

Roger into the semis at Wimbledon where Murray, Nadal, and Djokavic are all out.

In the semis he plays Berdych. Roger has no excuse not to win that one.

In the Finals he would face the winner of Cilic/Querrey, who are both playing very well. Both match up better against Roger than Berdych does.

Those of you who don't pay attention to tennis might want to if Querrey (USA) makes the Final.

As a Roger fan, the only person I was worried about him facing was Novak, who retired from his match today.

Was not worried about Murray, who doesn't return as well as Djokavic. Was not worried about Nadal, who wasn't going to make the final anyway (his focus was on the French Open - didn't really prepare for the grass season) and has been owned by Roger the whole year. FYI Roger's head to head career record against Rafa on surfaces other than clay is 12-10.

Roger has a great opportunity at number 19.

Huge fan and have been eyeing this tourney all day.

Really rooting for Roger, this late in his career resurgence is incredible. Really hopes he pulls it off.

Quite frankly Roger might be the greatest all time still active athlete in the world right now. This would include Lebron, but probably give the nod to Phelps if he didnt retire.

I've never been a big fan of Federer. I can't deny his talents or accomplishments. But, I have always felt his "sportsmanship" was overrated. The 2009 Australian Open final and 2011 US Open semifinals are the most glaring examples. That said, I can't seem him losing to Cilic. Once Murray was beaten and Novak resigned, the path was cleared for him.

Cilic is legit and playing well. He seemed very confident against Querrey, and I'm hoping when he sees Roger on the other side of the net, that will change. Will be significant harder than Berdych but it's still in Roger's hands. He needs his A game.

And, the match against Berdych was definitely not the normal Federer from a mental standpoint. Physically I thought he was fine. He was hitting the ball and serving well, just made some bad decisions during and after points. Tennis players get frustrated all the time but Roger usually never shows it. He was visibly frustrated, even when to was up 2 sets to none. It was strange. I don't see how you can say his sportsmanship is overrated when you look at the other players of tennis. Roger also never gets disrespectful with reporters. Rafa's sportsmanship is right there with Roger's imo. Novak and Andy act up on the court from time to time although Novak has been humbled over the last few years.

Crazy that he didn't even drop a set the whole tournament at his age.

Rafa did the same thing this year at the French.

Each of them have a chance now at #1 in the world.

As far as the US Open goes:
Roger's already beaten Rafa 3 times this year on hardcourt. A healthy Novak could definitely beat a healthy Roger there, but that's about it in my opinion.

Dude is the greatest of all time. Unbelievable. Magical moment with that Melbourne crowd showering him in applause and adulation for an uninterrupted minute as Roger cried and squeezed the trophy. Very special stuff.
