Roku / Streaming Devices

Question on Roku or any like product.

If I have a streaming service on my iPad, would I be able to stream from my phone to the TV or do you have to download the app via Roku station to play it?

Example: I have ATT Uverse TV, if I want to watch live TV or my recorded TV, would Roku be able to do that? (or any other device).

if the box is compatible with the app it will let ya download it.
the problem is that some of these app writers are writing their apps compatible to tablets and phones but not to the streaming boxes and smart tv's

if you have google tv with a play store ip. it will let you know right away if its compatible.

when i didnt have espn i would play the race on the phoen or tablet and hdmi it into the box.

Roku is my only form of television right now. Heavily recommend it.
