Does anyone else ever think that it's weird that we've never had a logo with horses in it? I mean when I think of the calvary, I think of guys on horses.

I'm also kinda surprised that Danny G hasn't tried to rename us.

Cavaliers and cavalry aren't one in the same. Cavaliers were the supporters of Charles I during the English Civil War, not necessarily soldiers on horseback...most of them were fruity elitists with puffy hair in ridiculous clothing. But, they had Cavalier cavalry units, so the idea isn't that far-fetched.

Well, you learn something new everyday.

It makes sense that Virginia would be named that after something like that being the first colony and all, but it seems dumb for us.

This isn't really the place for it, but I'd have to imagine that we could come up with something a hell of a lot more relevant to Cleveland.

If I am remembering correctly, the Cavs were named just that because it was a fan contest to name the team through a newspaper, and somehow Cavaliers won. It just sounds good, alliteration and all, but has virtually 0 to do with Cleveland.

Cleveland’s newspaper, The Plain Dealer, held a contest to name the city’s new basketball club.
Contest winner Jerry Tomko wrote that the Cavaliers “represent a group of daring, fearless men, whose life’s pact was never surrender, no matter what the odds.”
The nickname is frequently shortened to Cavs.

Something tells me we are going to hate Demarre Carroll in less than 48 hours.
